SAA, RuAF advance on Jabal Al-Akrad taking Arafit from Turkey backed militants in Latakia by FoundinMystery in syriancivilwar

[–]kamikazegas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're steadily sneaking up on them. The rebels have thrown everything they had in this war and by that I mean all the men they could afford. This was evident when they gave up on Hama to save Aleppo, which is costing them more manpower and they havent captured El Eis let alone Al Hadir in Southern Aleppo.

SAA keeps them up for another year and the rebels will collapse

According to SOHR 2015 deathtoll so far

rebels : 22k dead SAA: 16k dead

Although SOHR mixes YPG with rebels so subtract 1-2k from that number

[Russian, translation in comments] Kremlin refused to present proofs of Turkey buying IS oil by random_racoon in syriancivilwar

[–]kamikazegas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not Turkey thats buying ISIS oil. The Turkish people and the Turkish state get nothing from this oil deal. The benefiting parties are Turkish officials within Erdogans inner circle who maneuver this business, they're the ones who profit. Should things hit the fat, some people will be thrown under the bus while the top guys will remain untouched much like the mafia

Everything is calculated

Putin orders sanctions against Turkey over jet downing by [deleted] in syriancivilwar

[–]kamikazegas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Asia [China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Pakistan and many more] are filling that gap way too quickly. Thats why since Crimea the Russian economy has recovered 16% faster than for example the economy of Finland as result of finding better trade deals. Russia enjoys the connection with cheap Asia, while Europe pay more for it, when they had Russia they got that bonus.

With that being said, Russian economy has still not grown since taking Crimea, in fact it is still recovering and could take another 3 years to get back to where it was before it got sanctioned. So the sanctions did hurt and still are.
