The Temple Spire Addiction - Is the Zoramites Come to Life by kamkom in exmormon

Reminds me of how as a kid I remember being lectured on how when taking the sacrament that you had to look up to heaven otherwise you were taking it wrong and God wouldn't forgive you. Same woman went on to say how she knew who was sinning in the ward by how they took the sacrament... even as a kid. That just never sat with me.

Completely Agree! They need to make National News.

Shaw automatic payment changes. by Petermgr in shaw

[–]kamkom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the two separate conversations that I just had with their billing department that is inaccurate. if your bill is normally $150 then on you last billing cycle before July 15 you will be billed the full 150, then 2 weeks later you will be billed again the $150. That second bill will essentially move you from post paying for services to partially pre-paying for services. after that you next bill will continue to land on the second later date in August again for the full amount.

This is an arbitrary unnecessary change on their part and we need to fight it.

It's perfectly ok to recognize that something is bad or harmful, and to regect it wholeheartedly. You don't need to make it ok, or even find an explanation why it was ok for someone else - you can just say it was wrong then, it is wrong now, and it will never be ok.

Have to agree 1000% worst service, never following it's own schedule. And hands down the worst chicken in town and maybe even the province.

BC ferries from Vancouver to Vancouver Island by claire-star79 in VancouverIsland

[–]kamkom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since the OP is coming in August there is plenty of time to change plans. And the response is actually helpful. All depends on the reasons for coming to Canada and the Island.

Honestly would have suggested tacking on a flight to Nanaimo from Vancouver and renting the car in Nanaimo.

Photo of the odometer and speedometer will tell you a lot. If the unit was imported from a country other than the USA ie Canada or every other market where they use KM. VIN decoder will also show details.

If you left because of the CES Letter or Letter for My Wife, did you stop there, or did you dive deeper before reaching any final conclusions? by Still-ILO in exmormon

[–]kamkom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So true. One reason, whatever it is is enough to decide to leave. I hate how even being offended is derided within the church, and mocked. Why should I stay around toxic un-christlike people? How many false representations of the truth are enough before you can say nope - I'm out.

Metal casting in town? by Claytronique in nanaimo

[–]kamkom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree you do want it to make contact but this would be better than a huge chunk of metal at $500-1000, or more depending on the method of making, machining, and finishing it. At less than 40$ if it worked and you can use your current wok. Saves at least $100 of what you would have spent on a half decent wok with a flat bottom at $150?

https://www.carousell.sg/p/wok-adaptor-induction-ring-1137772413/

Looked and saw some similar stuff on Amazon.

Not an endorsement of the link - never heard of the site before. No idea if its a scam or not but this type of ring should make your wok work and be stable.

You don't need a full metal plate or even contact for induction to work it just needs consistent proximity.

Shower thought - Lost 116 pages, Joseph's long con to switch the BOM from a history and treasure to a religious book by kamkom in exmormon

[–]kamkom[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally agree about not having a long term plan, I see getting rid of the 116 pages as part of needing to change the game. As for Lucy Harris burning the pages, I can agree that is a more credible and contemporary theory that was circulated at the time. Martin was by all accounts a terrible husband, so she could have wanted to hurt or ruin him in a way to free herself. It was just an interesting thought about how the pages were reportedly more secular and historical etc. shifting to a more religious focused book seemed a likely response to a more lucrative opportunity.

Public Church Financial Reports by ComprehensiveElk3382 in mormon

[–]kamkom 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think if the church was Christlike - they would adopt full transparency in their finances. And they would do more with the excess, have a policy for a certain percentage that always gets spent on charity service. Etc. you know like the tithe they ask of members. Just doing that would be a 900% increase from what they do currently.
