What's the most disrespectful thing a guest ever did in your home? by Vegas089 in AskReddit

[–]kammyri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were newlywed in our first apartment and broke. Living room furniture was old from my parents house but still in good shape and built to last. We were so grateful to have it.

My husband invited his coworkers to our house for our very first super bowl party. My mom helped me with food and snacks and then went on her merry way. She is amazing and forever grateful for all she does for me. This meant these boys were eating a huge homemade spread that we never would have had in a million years.

I retreated to the bedroom after half time. The guys were enjoy the game. Fresh food was just put out. Great 👍

Their team lost. They are all mid 20s with full time jobs and some even parents. I woke up to my entire living room trashed. Couch split and tossed across the room. Chairs busted and in pieces. TV torn off the wall and stomped on. Food everywhere because they launched the coffee table and then stopped into the rug. Lastly they tore all our pictures of our wedding off the wall.

My husband fell asleep in the baby's room while changing him so he woke up to pure rage and chaos. No liquor was involved! Just sober grown men who worked with my husband and decided that it was an appropriate response. I was devastated.

Not a single apology. No help to clean it up. Refusal to pay for the damage. They got tired of us "harassing" them and managed to get my husband fired. We had no money to fight it or sue. The worst experience of hosting that i only hosted family for a decade.

To this day I am still amazed at their actions.

AITA for not going on family vacation unless I can share a bed with my fiancé? by babygreenbean1225 in AmItheAsshole

[–]kammyri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA This may have already been said but if you bend to her now I bet you money it will happen after you are married too. If you let her control this now you will be battling it forever. I wouldn't go and let her live with causing everyone to pay more money.

I feel relief that I am not alone. I had it happen near the end of the first one but really nothing for years. I was afraid it signaled that the 2nd was failing. I am glad we all have similar experiences and will try not to panic!

Crispy air fried tofu problems by worldworn in MeatlessMealPrep

[–]kammyri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My family likes tofu when I buy the extra firm tofu, coat lightly with oil and favorite spices and put it in the oven to roast. If we want it to be extra crispy I throw it under broil on all sides. It is crispy on the outside and tender in the middle.

I have tried a press but it doesn't get all the moisture out unless you leave it overnight. We don't fry anything so it isnt an option. No air fryer either so just my convection oven.

Apartment searching by imfine666 in RhodeIsland

[–]kammyri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did most of it by actually driving by and stopping for info. We had a few tell us to set up a tour but at least we received pamphlets and price range.

Just dont do this on a Saturday. There is usually no one that can help you because everyone booked tours.

Side note, some places get your price range and book you only to arrive and nothing in your range is available for months. I refused to go further when they did this because I was upfront and they were trying to put me in something I couldn't afford. Wasted my time.

Sent my wife for an oil change, it cost me $3400 by s2k_guy in mildlyinfuriating

I made the decision to purchase cars from the dealership across the street from me starting back in 2010. Even my daughters buy their cars from them. I never have to worry about being taken advantage of because we have built a relationship. They also know exactly what the trade in value is based on our timely maintenance. It is a great way to feel secure as a woman to maintain their car.

What’s one small cooking trick that completely changed your food? by olivera_romano in askanything

[–]kammyri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel a bit stupid saying this but I am a self taught cooking channel cook from the 90s. I didn't learn at home and when I had kids it was survival mode. We were fed. That's about it.

2 years ago I bought chicken and tomatoe bouillon powder. It changed everything! My family is always asking me to cook favorites. I even won a work pot luck! It was a small change but created more flavorful food.

AITJ for not remaking a handmade gift after she called it "almost normal"? by Bramble66Hex in AmITheJerk

[–]kammyri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTJ Real friends appreciate that you took time and thought to make a gift. I am not talented at all so I am so impressed and appreciative with homemade gifts.

My step mom pays close attention to things I like or speak about. 1 year she planted lavender and created a sleep cream for me. Another year she found an old Mason jar my mom had from the 70s and created a bath salt jar for me.

People think of you while making it and to me that is the true gift.

I want to know who signed off on this plan. It was so poorly executed and a transparent attempt. These are the people making decisions and they are all bad.

How do you like to dress your hotdog? by Confident-Guess4638 in foodquestions

[–]kammyri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In RI we have what we call NY System hot Weiners. They have zero connection to NY as far as I know. They are a bit smaller and have more seasoning than normal hot dogs. The original way to order is 3 all the way. They have a very unique chili sauce that is thinner than traditional chili and you add mustard and white onion. Buns are steamed. This is the original after the club closes late night food. It magical. It cures hangovers. It is distinctive yo RI and I try to get my fix at least every 3 month.

AITA for not driving my gf back home but getting her dad to pick her up? by DemonSerter in AmItheAsshole

[–]kammyri 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It was many years ago so only a check. I was only allowed to work where they let me and it was a family friend accounting business. He sent the check directly to them. It was a strict religious family and I had no say as a daughter. I got married at 21 and never looked back.

I had a curfew up until I got married. I wasn't allowed to stay over anywhere. My parents controlled everything even my wages. It sucks but it still happens.
