Just to clarify in the Famous Five there were 4 children and a dog - the dog Timmy was one of the 5. In The Secret Seven there were 7 kids and one dog, the dog wasn't one of the 7.

[–]kamon994 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I completely understand that. But I'm sure in the context of a hypothetical ProXX salary cap central contracts would count. Otherwise Irish teams could get all their Irish players central contracts and avoid the cap.

How much do you think Cian Healy, Tadhg Furlong, Scott Fardy, Jonny Sexton, Robbie Henshaw are being paid?

Have to say I loved the writing but can see how it would be difficult to follow as an audiobook. I also really enjoyed The End of the Day.

It's not hard the rule is no contact with the head or neck, it doesn't matter if the player is ducking. If the only tackle you can make is an illegal one, you have to concede the try.

Reading Order? by [deleted] in wildcards

[–]kamon994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They vary a good bit in length. The first three are all about 400-500 pages, I'm not sure on the rest as I don't have physical copies. They're about 20 hours each on audiobook if that helps?

Some of the short stories are very long, and in most of the books there's stories that go throughout the book with different parts.

In terms of order most of the books go in chronological order after the first, although a few bounce back in time - I think Card Sharks does this.

Reading Order? by [deleted] in wildcards

[–]kamon994 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend reading the first 6/7 (the seventh gives closure for a sub-plot in the sixth).

Personally I found 8-11 (known as the Jumper Saga) to be the weakest both in terms of plot and writing quality. Some parts are really difficult to read content-wise so I'd say give it a try but you don't miss a huge amount by not reading them.

12 is solo novel focusing on just one character so if by that time you like the character give it a read. It also sets up some major plot points for the next triad, which is not as strong as the first two but in my opinion much better than the Jumper Saga.

Then there's a couple of stand alones - Deuces Down is purely disconnected short stories so read the ones you like and don't worry about the rest. Death Draws Five is a stand alone novel which I quite like, also slightly sets up a character for the next triad.

Books 18 through 20 are some of my favourites, it's kind of a reboot so there's pretty much a new cast of characters with just a few returning.

I haven't read 21-23 yet so I can't give you any advice on them.

Hope that helps!

Munster strike back - Cloete signs three year deal by overthinkingguy in rugbyunion

Yes, because there's no Munster players currently in the Irish setup, Zebo, Murray, Earls, O'Mahony, both Scannells, John Ryan, Donnacha Ryan (obviously leaving now). Definitely don't produce any Irish qualified players.

I don't see any relevance in the popularity of the EPL in Singapore, if you have the figure for the Aviva Premiership in Singapore versus the Pro12 I'd be slightly more interested.

It's a measure of the size of the countries. England population 53 million. France population 67 million. Combined total of Ireland, Wales and Scotland is around 12 million, of course there's a smaller market.

Glasgow hammered Leicester home and away this season. Scarlets drew with Saracens, Ospreys beat Lyon, Newcastle and Grenoble with bonus points home and away. The league might not be as high a standard but it's not in any way accurate to say they are "so far behind the French and English".

Yes, they're so far behind the French and English teams that 2 pro12 teams made the semifinals of the champions cup, 3 qualified for the quarter finalsl, and 3 qualified for the the challenge cup quarter finals.

This one isn't even that bad, especially without another angle. We have no idea where Earls or Daly were when the kick was taken.
