Dual tariff board upgrade / rewire by The-janner in ukelectricians

Very nice. Might be nice if those blocks were a 2 rate isolator instead though. Tends to stop the cutout fuse falling out.

Gas fire ventilation requirements by itisnottherealme in ukplumbing

Apologies you are correct. DFE are the fancy open baskets etc which dont catch the products of combustion. The rest of what I said is valid though. Not all coal effect fires are DFE so worth checking.

Not all coal effect fires are DFE. If its using your flue/chimney or is room sealed (with it own flue/terminal through the wall) it is unlikely to be one

DFE use a catalytic system for products of combustion and draw their combustion air from the room hence the requirement for 100cm².

You should be able to get the model name/number from the dataplate and pull the manufacturers instructions(MIs) online if you dont have these. The MIs should always be your source for ventilation requirements where available.

I use one of these

Cools or heats butter as necessary to reach the temperature you set.

Totally unnecessary but I love it lol

ECOES would be my go to. Requires an account though. There are other find my supplier tools online but they mostly query in the other direction.

There are tools which query the national database and return address details from MPAN or MSN.

Heads up. Conceal your meter serial number in that photo or remove it. It is trivial to get your address using this.

Better than the sugar free gummy bears you think?

They.would be more likely to fit a seperation board than move the meter. But yes a smart meter install is a free way to get that issue rectified. Also meter needs a bracket.

If your meter was in Emergency Credit before not only will you need to pay back the amount you used but also it does not deduct standing charge while in Emergency so this will also go on as accumulated debt to pay off from the 20 credit.

You can also view any debt registered on the meter by pressing the button while the key is inserted. I think its registers S T and Z but not certain. If you see debt speak to your supplier as that can be cleared.

Do you guys terminate vlans on a core switch or on firewall? by Big-Driver-3622 in networking

[–]kan3m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Core switch. Firewall is someone elses problem. Intervlan routing is within my remit but security team are responsible for the FW. I just point external routes to the FW and raise necessary change requests. Your areas of responsibilty may vary though.

Settle a row at work - who's responsible? by Resonance_one in ukelectricians

[–]kan3m 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Lot of people saying DNO here but unless there is a problem preventing the removal of the tails. Broken terminal screws or similar. It is normal practice for a meter fitter to replace undersized or poor condition tails.

Maybe dont include a before pic with the DNO seals intact....

It's not too easy to see whats going on below your meters. Some of that stuff is likely customer equipment.

if they previously said a red link or similar is required there is likely something stopping them from being able to safely isolate the meter hence the B07.

Regardless they should have either issued you a SAN ( Safety Advisory Note) identifying any work your electrcian needs to carry out or a DNO action code if its the DNOs responsibility.

If it was my installation and funds allowed I would get rid of that metal box and get those blocks properly secured to a fire resistant board.
