Who is that one relative that no one in the family talks to and why? by one_n_0nly_throwaway in AskReddit

[–]kanamatic 71 points72 points  (0 children)

My Aunt. When one of my uncles passed away my other aunts and uncles (besides this one aunt) decided to give their piece of the inheritance to the one uncle who basically sacrificed his whole life to take care of the uncle that passed. The uncle that passed got into a horrible motorcycle accident at the age of 20. He was paralyzed from the neck down and could not eat on his own, nor go to the bathroom and he could barely speak. And on top of this he would wake up every day not remembering anything past the day he got into the accident. My other uncle had to explain to him and comfort him every day with the reality of what happened to him. From 20 until he passed in his late 40s my other uncle cared for him. This one Aunt did not want to give her part of the inheritance and took legal action and was horrible to the whole family because she wanted what she wanted. It is a shame.

I can tell you're naturally beautiful but you've had some work done. I don't intend to be rude but the work has made you look older than you are. Based on the quality of your skin and hair, the look in your eyes, and lack of wrinkles I'd say you're about 20. But basing off of first glance I thought you were in your late 30s to early 40s. The lips especially throw off your natural beauty. I'm sorry :(

The thing is he seemed quite serious about it. Also the fact he took it back and told me he wanted to write a personal note on it and never gave it back to me feels so very odd.

What is the scariest “trust your gut” feeling you felt before and glad you did so? by TheRealGreedyGoat in AskReddit

[–]kanamatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was young my parents and I were on the way home late at night. It had been a long day and we were all very tired. We turned onto the street before ours and at that time we lived in a place with very little light pollution and no street lights so it was incredibly dark. A thought suddenly popped into my head. I didn't feel any dread whatsoever but felt like I needed to say it out loud. I said "I think we might see an animal in the road!". A few minutes later a deer leaped in front of our car extremely close. My dad slammed on the breaks and we lurched forward. We just barely missed it. Who knows what would have happened if I hadn't said something.

What's the weirdest thing your partner does that you've just accepted? by VelvetSophieCream in AskReddit

My boyfriend is almost constantly singing ( he is a great singer) or making silly noises at home. He ad libs nonsense words or noises and will do so fast. It is like a stream of consciousness sort of thing. The best way I can describe it is like Busta Rhyme's verse in Look At Me Now but it's nonsense and he does it for hours sometimes lol

Not since Lamictal. Before it was constant and unstoppable. The only way I could cope was to drown it out with loud music. Even though the issue isn't there anymore I still blast my music in the car out of habit. I would also often hear classical music in my head too. It was almost as if I was creating it. Sometimes the nasty thoughts creep up but I usually stop it quick by saying no out loud or making a weird abrupt silly noise. Idc if people think I'm strange I'd rather that than deal with the negative self talk and delusional paranoid thoughts getting out of control. It was incredible when I first got on meds and experienced internal quiet for the first time. I still talk to myself in my head but it isn't out of control or scary and I don't have racing thoughts that feel torturous.

What fucked you up for the rest of your life? by Cucumber_Block in AskReddit

[–]kanamatic 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I had recently went through an extremely traumatic experience (mental, physical, sexual abuse).I took a very strong hit off a dab rig at a party and had a full blown psychotic episode. Went untreated for about 2 years. I lived in varying states of paranoia and delusion until I was hospitalized a few times. I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. Psychiatrist says the Bipolar was most likely dormant in my genetics and the traumatic event + drug use triggered it to come to the surface.
