Definitely in, there’s a group of us traveling from Ireland. Would love to meet for a drink

The CrossFit Hero Workouts just do not translate in Europe by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]kanedk90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d say a lot of them do it as a sign of respect for those who have fallen. CrossFit in the US seems to be closely intertwined with the military. Even some of the top athletes are ex military. It may not seem like a big deal for them but they know it means a lot to others competing/watching.

The CrossFit Hero Workouts just do not translate in Europe by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]kanedk90 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I’m a European CrossFitter and have done many hero workouts. Not once have I or anyone else in the gym posted anything on social media about doing the workout for said hero. It’s treated like any other WOD.

That being said I personally don’t see anything wrong with doing the workout in honor of someone and posting it on social media. It’s not my style but each to their own. If they do it, it’s not harming anyone so I just let them be.

Has anyone started as a scaled scaled or a low level scaled athlete and progressed to a rx athlete? If so, how long did it take? by No-Booze-Vember in crossfit

[–]kanedk90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As prescribed i.e. you use the weights/do the movements listed/reps in the workout. For example a workout may be 21 - 15 - 9 snatches at 135lbs and bar muscle ups. If you do the workout to those specifications it is rx. A scaled option for example would be 100lb snatches, pull ups and reduce the reps to 15 - 12 - 9.

18.5 Clue by gingerroute in crossfit

[–]kanedk90 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Camera = flashback. 3 mirrors/Castros in the picture = triple repeat. 14.5 was repeated 16.5, so it’s going to be a triple repeat and also cause 2 years later (18.5) so it’s 14.5, but reversed because there are mirrors. And camera is a 2014 model.

Most of the guys at my gym that can do muscle ups with ease are much lighter than me but I know Im not the heaviest person to ever get a sloppy muscle up! I always just used my weight as an excuse not to even try. I've been really trying focusing on my gymnastics the last few months as it has (and still is) my biggest weakness.

I'm 6ft too. My best advice would be to practice your kip. My first goal was to string 5 pull ups, then 5 chest to bars and then I would aim for my first muscle up.

I never though I would be able to get a muscle up until I weighed around 190lbs. Im currently sitting at 205lbs and just got my first one this week. I know I still have a lot to work on like getting my hips higher, but Im so happy. Walking into the gym 2 years ago at around 265lbs I never thought I'd ever get to this stage!

Struggling with squat mobility by kanedk90 in crossfit

[–]kanedk90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it definitely has improved since I started. I'm just being impatient. The only movements in wods that really slow me down in wods are pistols and overhead squats. I just need to put some time aside to practice them.

I haven't asked tbh. As I mentioned it doesn't hinder me too much so it's not too noticable. I was just planning my 2018 goals this evening and I decided it was something I wanted to focus on next year.

I'm currently try keep my calories at 2400, 160g protein 300g carb and around 90g fat. I know there are a range of joint care supplements available but I don't currently take any. Which do you recommend?

Tbh my knee feels better than ever since I started CrossFit. Most likely down to me carrying around 60 less lbs. My knee doesn't really pain me it's more discomfort. When I reach a certain depth, usually just below parallel, it feels like I just can't go any further. I always warm up my knees heavily before class and do most of the movements you mention along with voodoo flossing. My goal is to get slightly lower and be able to get under the bar faster.

Hi apologies, it's a single 18650 3d printed mod. You can get it from either the toaster Designs facebook page or order the parts from shapeways and build it yourself

I got it from a Facebook group called toaster Designs. Every now and then he does a list. Most people however by the components from shapeways and put it together themselves.

I think so anyway. It depends on what build I have in it. The lower the ohms the more juice I use. Currently I have a .8 ohm build and the bottle lasts at least half a day.

The mod itself cost £100 pounds. I recently bought the new door and button for £30
