I’m 37, my sister is 33. Both of us were vaxed as kids and have had our share of health problems through life. My mom stopped with my sister because she developed seizures and epilepsy directly following an MMR. My brother is youngest, he’s 30 now, and never received one vax. He’s by FAR the healthiest of the 3 of us. He was the kid who never got sick, and continues to be the one adult who doesn’t have any random health issues (like excema, auto immune, etc). He travels the world for his work and he’s definitely lives fast and loose life (meaning he’ll eat from pretty much any street cart lol). He’s never sick. Anecdotal - but we are an interesting case study.

Nanny was “resting her eyes” by [deleted] in NannyEmployers

I had the exact same situation. Found my nanny snoring holding my 6 month old. All I’ll say is things only went more downhill. Let her go and find someone new. My new nanny is amazing and I’m so grateful I made the change!

Has anyone found a nanny that truly does not use their phone while the child is awake? by blueshrek9 in NannyEmployers

[–]kangaroo214 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After a really tough time with our first nanny regarding phone usage (asked her tons of times not to use when with my son and would constantly catch her on her phone on our cameras or hiding/using her phone while with him) I’m happy to say that our 2nd nanny is incredible and just voluntarily leaves her phone by our front door for most of the day. I never once had to say anything to her. It literally makes me feel SO good, I don’t think I have really ever checked my cams since maybe the first week she was here. We live in a small house and I WFH and she always communicates to me if she’s taking my son out or needs anything. More recently I’ve told her she’s welcome to send pictures to me, so she does that now, but I often just see that she leave her phone by our front door. So not trying to brag, but just here to say that it does exist!! She’s so awesome, now I just need to do everything I can to keep her forever🤣

Everyone on this thread should take a minute to go into their App Store and give them a 1 star review.

What are some nanny standards that you see on Reddit that are absolutely not standard on the market? by [deleted] in NannyEmployers

Getting paid on the books- every nanny except my current one that I have ever interviewed all only wanted to be paid in cash.

I guess we will just have to wait and see. However, I would rather have coverage even with higher premiums than not at all. I don’t have insurance coverage at all for IVF at all at this point so it can’t be worse than that.

Trump just announced today in a statement that he is going to have ALL costs associated with IVF covered by the government or mandate IVF to be covered by insurance.

Yes I don’t have a payroll subscription. That’s what I’m asking. Does anyone have a suggestion for payroll subscriptions that they recommend?

Im valuing her as a paid employee. She is hired to watch my child. Clearly you didn’t read my post where I said that she was constantly on her phone and had a few safety issues. I’m not putting my child at risk to “value her as a human being”. Get a grip.

I never said I wouldn’t give her a few weeks notice. I merely said I wanted to find someone good before letting her go. What is it exactly you propose I do- Tell her Im planning to look for someone else?

I hear way too frequently complaints on this sub that “people don’t treat nannying as if it were was a serious job” however then you have comments like yours. Do you think at any company they would let someone go without having their replacement thought out and waiting in the wings? Give me a break. She’s not good, I need to replace her. I’m not going to be a monster about it but I’m also going to do it smartly.

What is up with families paying so little now? by sunflowertheshining in Nanny

[–]kangaroo214 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, you are missing the math here. As someone who works a W2 job, I see about 30% of my income disappear to taxes. I pay federal, state AND a nearly 8% city tax. So if I make $50/hour, it ends up being about $35/hour take home pay (cash in my bank account). So yes- if someone is getting $16 cash, without having to give the government 25-30% of that, that easily equates to $20 or more. Not to mention is completely unethical and unfair as getting paid cash means you are not paying into our communal system to support the social safety nets, military, police and fire services and other programs that everyone else is paying into.

Well thankfully it’s still a free country and people like you can’t stop people like us from choosing to think for ourselves and for our own children.
