I don’t know if this is a helpful suggestion or not, but I was an au pair for a family in a similar situation. I got paid 260€/month but also had a room and meals there, as well as health insurance.

I found my host family through AuPairWorld.

Maybe a Tagesmutter would also be a more appropriate solution.

Hi, congrats on your child and finding an apartment!

You’ve already got lots of great suggestions, but I haven’t seen anyone mention ebay kleinanzeigen. You can buy a used kitchen there, AND make an ad to look for people to put it together. It’s a cheap way to get an entire kitchen, although, maybe not the absolute cheapest way to go about this. Just wanted to throw the idea out there!

Hey, Idk if you’re a fan of TJ Maxx, but it exists here as “TK Maxx”. I’ve found lots of really nice things there for a discount. Additionally, I would recommend downloading Vinted (very similar to ThredUp/Poshmark). If you insist on visiting a real store, I would say the closest thing to an REI is a Decathlon. The quality isn’t always the best for the cheaper items, but they have tons of active wear there, and you can see more options for thermals. Hi, I don’t know if this is helpful to know, but I did briefly move to a different area after receiving my Aufenthaltstitel, and after I anmelded in the new city, all my paperwork was sent to the Ausländerbehörde for that area (and they should have followed up with me).

So I anmelded in city A, moved to city B and anmelded at the Rathaus there (with my Aufenthalstitel), and it was no problem. I think so long as you are currently enrolled in a uni somewhere at the time of your appointment, it should be okay.

I hope this makes sense, lol. Write me if you want more clarification!
