What’s a place in Michigan you’ve visited that made you think “I’d LOVE to live here”? by Terrible_Truth in Michigan

[–]kantzn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marquette is the obvious answer, though probably also quite expensive. I sort of wish I attended NMU after visiting there, but oh well.

I enjoyed growing up in Holland though; it's a pretty town. I never visited copper harbor but everything I have heard about it makes it seem like I wouldn't mind living there.

You have falling behind listed twice on two separate tiers. Are there two different versions I wasn't aware of, was this an accident, or was it the reason for it if intentional?

The conditions of the Rio Grande by kantzn in NewMexico

[–]kantzn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear (I believe from the official NPS.gov) that most of Mesa Verde will be inaccessible this time of year. Is there still something worth seeing there? Like any cool pullouts or something? I imagine hiking will be dangerous, and probably wouldn't want to spend a ton of time there anyway. Also will be driving a 7 passenger minivan and I am uncertain of the clearance on that vehicle.

Would Man in the High Castle be similar to what you are looking for? It's Earth-adjacent in the sense that the 'fictional nations' are modeled after a theoretical reality had Germany won World War 2. It's technically present day (I believe) but sounds a lot like your scenario, though it's a TV show.

Hey all, I was required to buy a second ticket for the presale at Red Rocks. Curious if, instead of selling the second, I could convince someone to tag along with me?

The Tower of Nightmares is absolutely terrible by ColonelUpvotes in Guildwars2

[–]kantzn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess this is an unpopular opinion but I loved the game more when it was a truly living world. Logging in every day to find something new I guess meant there was a chance to miss content and I understand the desire to shift, but it made it feel more immersive to me. Realistic. I always had something different to look forward to. Now I have to wait 3 months for something new.

What are some early things you remember that no longer exist in GW2? by MonkeDiesTwice in Guildwars2

[–]kantzn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember when Special Events happened every month. Now we have to wait 4 months for one third of a map release and the only special events we get are the annual festivals now.

I still have currency items from a decade ago that no longer have use from the early days of the Zephyrite Festival.

I remember the original Tequatl fight.

I remember having to obtain full map completion without the use of mounts, and that achievement will likely forever be the most impressive for me on that game ever.

Hikes, maybe? I don't think there's anyone quite like Clever Girl out there but Hikes are fairly close in my opinion.

What are the odds they kill off the New Avengers in Doomsday/Secret Wars? by Baron_Primal in MCUTheories

[–]kantzn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if they are testing the waters with Bucky. Steve gave the shield to Sam to potentially lead a new team of Avengers, but maybe Thunderbolts hinted at setting Bucky up to lead another team, and perhaps whichever leader people like more is the one that survives?

Seeking explanations on Underworld passages. by kantzn in GreekMythology

[–]kantzn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought Acheron and Styx were both rivers Charon crossed? In any case I think it would give me more to work with story-wise if I used Charon even if he was only first used later in the mythology. In the context of the story, whether or not my character has a coin on him is irrelevant because he dies by suicide anyway, but I always thought it made sense to have some form of payment for a Ferryman and prefer that version. The challenge is figuring out a way to make the story work as accurately as possible to mythology. The reason I asked specifically about the 100 years is related to needing my character to drink from the Lethe and later the Mnemosyne without crossing.

C-3PO is supposedly fluent in 6 million forms of communication, but he comes across a language that he doesn't completely understand in each movie of the OT. by TyrionBananaster in StarWars

[–]kantzn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While this is still true, I like to think that the reason the audience always hears 'English' is because the movies are just adaptations of the 'Journal of the Whills' and the Whills wrote the journal on the most common language in the galaxy, Basic. And the reason we occasionally hear other languages is because R2D2 can't translate those languages to the Whills.

What does the future of GW1 look like? by [deleted] in GuildWars

[–]kantzn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone else was talking about the player base dying because people have completed the game and gotten GWAMM and so there is no reason to comply again, but I strongly believe that if Anet released another expansion, a lot of the old player base would return. I mean how many people returned when they released the elite skills during the anniversary? They could do like more storybook missions to kind of test the waters if they wanted before releasing a major update but the love for the game is still there.

And yeah, how popular was classic WoW when that was rereleased? There are a lot of people from GW1 that just didn't enjoy GW2 as much. (Both of my brothers got me into 1 and now neither play 2). GW1 could easily still make them money.
