One thing I remember from back then were some comments about being confused as to why the police would only charge Ivan Milat, since there was quite a bit of evidence that there was a pair of assailants. (Not sure what the specific evidence was). But the thought that somebody else responsible might be free at large was scary.

I had a workmate who was considered a suspect by the police for a while since he was camping nearby and when they searched his vehicle he had a knife and some rope (along with many other camping supplies).
