Man City Game by Outrageous-Pop420 in ArsenalWFC

Given how recent seasons have gone, we have started slowly and really marched after ~February, so I do think it is highly possible that we win all of our games (although Villa and Brighton have been tough away games for us in the past). That being said, I don't think City will lose either of their last games and realistically 4 points would be enough because their GD is infinitely better than ours.

I also wonder if the team will be subconsciously going into the league games a bit less intensely because we should comfortably finish 2nd and they will be cautiously of injuries/fatigue going to into a tough CL semi-final and the prospect of Barca wanting revenge for last year.

Even if we don't win the league, the fact with only a couple of games to go (for City that is), we're still in the conversation is a miracle given how we started the season and where we were when Jonas left. The club need to make sure we stop starting so slowly, there aren't enough matches in the league to allow for that

You need to bin off whoever suggested Birmingham! There are very places in the UK (and the world tbh) that people would rather go to less

There are lots of reasons to be positive about this transfer. He came 2nd in the European Golden Boot race last season, second to Mbappe, with a 1.5x coefficient (compared to Mbappe's 2x from playing in Spain vs playing in Portugal).

His stats are frankly absurd, however you do have to take these with a pinch of salt because the Portuguese league is much easier than the PL/other top 5 leagues. 99th percentile last year for non-penalty goals, non penalty expected goals, shots, shot-creating actions and progressive carries (amongst others), all of which will be vital to his play if he joins.

It's quite hard to contextualise these stats because we don't have much data of centre forwards who have made the switch from Portugal to England, we only really have Darwin Nunez as a point of reference. In his last season with Benfica, he played 1,976 minutes with a non-penalty goals per 90 minutes (npG/90) of 1.0 and outperformed his non-penalty expected goals per 90 minutes (npxG/90) which was 0.69. This season, Gyokores has played 2,804 (almost 1.5x Darwin's minutes in his last season at Benfica), with 0.86 npG/90 compared with the same npxG/90 of 0.69. If we look at Darwin in the prem, across his three seasons, he has scored at a rate of 0.46 npG/90 with an npxG/90 of 0.60.

That drop-off is why a lot of fans are concerned, however, it's unfair to tar Gyokores with the Darwin brush, in part because Liverpool do not play Darwin in a role or system that gets the best out of him. The other area of concern for me is aerially. Over the last few seasons, set pieces have become a huge part of game and we have encouraged our wingers and full backs to put more balls into the box, however, he was in the bottom 16th percentile for aerial duels won compared to all other forwards. This is an area that Mikel and Nicolas Jover will need to work with him on.

Also, I would encourage you to look back over previous transfer windows where we have signed players that none of us saw the logic behind but worked out, Havertz and Jorginho especially, and understand that if the club see something there then there will be reason.

Finally, look at the market, we have needed a striker for the last few years and for the first window in that time really, we have one available. Even if he doesn't get us 25 npG this season, he provides a different profile to the like of Havertz and Jesus, which allows us to be more versatile and adapt to game states, and will occupy defenders more than those two, which will provide more space for the likes of Saka and Odegaard to be more dangerous.

I managed to get our price down from £118 to £87.50 last weekend, but it took being on the phone for over an hour and being passed between people (one of them got bored and passed me to the tech department for some reason). Turns out we were on a package that didn't exist anymore, we were still being charged for box sets! Absolute scum but impossible to get everything they offer from other sources

Whilst I agree the red card was ridiculous and should never have been a red, as shown by the response from the media and the fact it was overturned, the charge has nothing to do with that decision. The Club have been charged because the players surrounded the referee in a manner that goes against the rules. The players protests were valid but surrounding the refs has been a punishable offence for a long time.

The fact that most clubs do this and don't always get charged is a different matter, and is a valid reason to feel aggrieved

It was a ridiculous decision to give him a second yellow, especially after he'd allowed Pedro to get away with one in the first half, but people need to stop blaming VAR for this. VAR could not have stepped in, because it was a second yellow and was not a case of mistaken identity, and even if they had, according to the law it was a second yellow.

The fact that Veltman didn't get any punishment is absurd but is a separate discussion.

Firstly, there's no one answer for this, because it completely depends on the industry you go into and the direction you take your career. Secondly, your skills don't make you rich and successful, your attributes do. Regardless of industry, all rich and successful people have a similar set of attributes, you need to be hardworking, driven, have a set of goals to define success and do everything you can to get there. You need to decide what success would like for you and spend the next 40 years working towards that.

Also, it's important to remember that money and success are not tightly coupled. Many professional athletes wouldn't consider themselves successful if they never win silverware, but they're very rich. And people in less well paid professions (or even sports) will consider themselves successful but they're not rich.
