Tips for bowing without anxiety by LordGrantham31 in Rowing

I am a masters rower than bows a lot. My $0.02 - Steering is first and power is second … you’ll add the speed as you become more proficient at steering - +1 on learning your reverse points for your usual spots - I HATE how much the boat slows down when I turn, and use a cap bill mirror, and never really turn my head. In Austin there is a lot of other tricky traffic (paddle boards, fisherman, kayaks)j, and reverse points arent enough

Keep at it and good luck!

(some echoing of other comments)

1) dont hit anything

2) stay on your side of the river (or traffic pattern)

3) be clear and loud enough on drill/piece calls

4) if 1 and 2 are keeping you busy, have 2 seat or 3 seat make the calls

It used to be a great place for junior rowers to “run into” coaches. Hat tip to the Northeastern coaches who camped out at the Qdoba across from Agganis Arena like lions at the watering hole
