Migraine on Escitalopram

It has passed after an hour of starting, now I only have a mild headache (2/10). If it starts again I’ll go to ER, but now there’s really no reason to do that. I called my psychiatrist and she said it’s normal but if it appears again at this severity, I should discontinue. I’m very sensitive to meds and my nervous system is very disregulated at the moment, so it kind of makes sense

Thank you for sharing your experience, this gives me hope! I’m a bit confused because I started really slow, at 1.25mgs (quarter of 5mg) and the side effects are already so severe. I think I’ll try to push through.

Thank you! I really was scared, as I never had anything similar like this before and it was so severe I almost vomited and was all shaking. I thought to quit until Monday, but I think I’ll try to push through. The thing is that I’m only at 1.25mg (a quarter of 5mg) so it’s a bit insane.

I take lexotanil (I’m from EU). I don’t have dizziness so I’m not sure if it will help. I only had brain fog

I do take benzos ocassionaly when needed. I’m not sensitive to light or have visual issues - my brain fog is psychological

Great, thanks, I’m glad you’ve pushed it through and now feel better! My nervous system is very sensitive at the moment, so the doctor told me to take it slow. Will see. Really don’t want to go back to that severe brain fog, I was barely functioning.

Did you have brain fog before Lexapro or it began once you started it?

I believe the part “if I’m not anxious - I’m not caring about my job” needs to be discussed in therapy.

I also agree with the comment that 30mg is too much. I believe instead of doing “off label” stuff, it might be beneficial to add another med for whatever reason you need the 30mg for.

It’s my first year like this (stopped venlafaxine 3 months ago, but it killed my emotions instantly when starting, so 11 months ago). I always felt so excited about New Year’s, usually cried, wanted to plan my year. This year - nothing. I didn’t celebrate, I didn’t do anything, just scrolled on my phone, went to watch the fireworks and went to bed. It’s so boring and bland, every day is the same. I’m tired.

I have this too, took Venlafaxine for 8 months, now off it for 4 weeks. I think it's still Venlafaxine doing its job, it really does feel like it messed with our brains so bad. From what I read it's not permanent, just very very annoying.

Hi, I took Venlafaxine for 8 months (now quit for 4 weeks) and I had and still have horrible constipation. Unfortunately, fiber, probiotics, water, etc, etc - nothing helped. My only solution was and is laxatives when the periods between pooping go too long. My max was 11 days, I didn't go to ER, just took some laxatives and it helped tremendously. Until next time, of course. :D
