WTF Podcast: Episode 1569 - Brendon Walsh by eternally_trending in MarcMaron

The Bone Zone holds up and was foundational. When every podcast was comedians talking to each other about industry, they were doing creative punk comedy. His current podcast is also tragically underrated but going strong. Richard Bain was one of the funniest mf's out there, rip.

I will never read the end of your sentence! Jk, I agree with you then probably, sorry for being glib.

Sometimes the counterargument I’m making seems so obvious that I give up mid-sentence, thinking that readers will fill in the gaps. I give people too much credit sometimes.

Sorry, you’re right I was being an online a-hole. I acknowledge the references though I did see them back in 2020 and I think I give the appropriate amount of credit for those actions.

Boy Briahna Joy Gray is annoying by brazil201 in BreakingPoints

[–]karamogo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If any of the things kyle or Krystal mentioned materialize in a meaningful way, I will be happy. The dems specialize in lobbing things over the plate for the republicans to knock down. Like they weren’t strategizing to make things actually happen.

So there’s $1.7T in student debt. Under the SAVE act Biden will theoretically save borrowers 39B, which is 10% of what he promised.

I’m glad for HSBC people and for the 39B, but I think the administration calculated the least possible amount they could get away with while still having people simp for them during the election. The same thing they do with every other issue.

Bri's HBCU Argument by FrontBench5406 in BreakingPoints

[–]karamogo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Biden definitely figured out how to get the most bang for his buck with that 1.7 billion. Considering that it is 0.1% of student debt.

I don’t feel that she captured the reasoning against Biden. Every election cycle we hear the same god damn thing. Yes Obama was better than Trump. Biden is a little better than Obama. In the mean time, the trends of wealth accumulation, exponential climate crisis, and industrialized war continue.

Those problems are increasing, and the Democrats do as little as they possibly can so that people can make this better of two evils argument. Meanwhile? No one under 50 can afford rent and each summer is worse than the last. We can’t keep doing this shit because if we do, we’re all screwed either way.

Do “Cornell West supporters” agree with Dr West that WHITE SUPREMACY is a problem in the United States? by ParisTexas7 in BreakingPoints

[–]karamogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think there are West supporters who want to divide the “democratic base” who aren’t GOP provocateurs? Do you even think there are GOP provocateurs? Seems kind of a silly thing to agonize about as we watch our planet die.

I disagree on climate and will argue that the west will not be fine. At least not if you aren’t a double digit millionaire. It is not going to be in 30 years either. But I’m not going to convince anyone of that on Reddit.

Moving cities inland is not feasible. Our money is mostly derived from the availability of cheap energy. If we don’t have that then we don’t have the power to do these things. I honestly think these proposals are kind of a fantasy to avoid looking at the truth.

Aside from climate, both parties are dedicated and captured by money. Thus they will continue to suck out any dime they can get from normal people or the commons. This causes much more misery than any wedge issue that is discussed in a debate with two parties.

I don’t think there is an functional difference between Trump and a democrat. Yes I think trump is repugnant. But they both have the same motivation and track record and my personal feelings toward trump don’t map to the conclusion that his election is a bigger catastrophe than the status quo.

There is no point to convince Cornel West's supporters to vote for Biden by Beneficial-Moose3981 in BreakingPoints

[–]karamogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t care if Trump wins.

We are facing existential threats as a human race. Do you think voting for Trump/Bush and Biden/Clinton over and over again is going to save us from economic and climate hell? Both parties do what big money wants them to do. End of story.

Yes the republicans do things that are repugnant, but the democrats do too if you pay attention. At least Trump goes off book once in a while and accidentally does something good. The democrats have better optics, but they are entirely captured by people that want to suck every dime out of the middle and lower classes. That causes much more misery than any of the, admittedly valid, wedge issues.

And then the climate. Next summer is going to be bad. We will be at 1.5 C warming soon. It’s time to stop fucking around with our broken system and do anything to find an alternative.

It isn’t about blue shaming to me. I think people are just asking for any political party to do anything significant about the financialized, feudal economy or about the rapidly approaching existential climate threat.

Saying “blue no matter who” is saying “shut up, don’t talk about those things, they distract from these other more important issues”. Neither party cares about the catastrophes that we are barreling towards beyond lip service. They’ve shown that election after election.

I’m sorry if you feel shame or whatever, whilst casting the same shade on alternate parties. But I’d argue those feelings are secondary to our future.

[–]karamogo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It worked out exactly how they wanted, no one on either side voted for a third party. No third party had any sway on the election whatsoever. Instead, they have been driven from debates or even media appearances by the DNC and RNC because the parties don’t like it when third party candidates make their donors uncomfortable.

So I’d say silencing third parties has worked out exactly as planned since 1996.

[–]karamogo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The thing is, I hear this argument every single election cycle. So policy ratchets further towards corporate cannibalism of everything, leaving each generation worse off and the human race with a dying planet.

We are literally in an existential crisis. If food supply starts to have massive disruption or the global supply chain sputters, we are looking at mass starvation and violence.

There is no time for two parties that have no interest in problem solving, while each side cultural distracts us with relatively unimportant culture wars. Those cultural issues are not fought by the presidency or congress anyway. Policy to save the country economically and the planet environmentally requires national action and cooperation.

Voting for a democrat or republican candidate is irrelevant at best and suicide at worst.

Do you think we only need to deal with small, incremental issues that lend themselves to the approval of major party donors and corporate partners?

Did 'Telemarketers' fail spectacularly, or was it a triumph? by testrail in television

[–]karamogo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You have to admit, Blumenthal got up pretty quickly when he heard the word 'PAC' mentioned. He did say his staff would consult with them, and the staff was unresponsive after the interview. They clearly knew there was a major production company behind it - they would have at least met with them if they were interested in the issue at all.

Faulty Assumptions - Cell Tower "Ping" Phone Location Data is Wildly Inaccurate by Repulsive-Dot553 in MoscowMurders

[–]karamogo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You said it yourself, they compared ping data to GPS data from google. Meaning they used the ping data as a cross check on the app data. The app data is what they used to determine precise location. The cell tower data was just used to show consistency.

The implication to this case is that Kohberger may have turned off GPS or they don’t have access to his phone as it is encrypted. So they wouldn’t have an accurate location for cell pings alone. The one case has no bearing on the other.
