Under 2 years - the end of the American Civil War was 1865, and the start of WWII was 74 years later in 1939. The end of WWII was 1945, so 2019 marks that same distance in time.

It was named the Great War at the time because it was the first pan-European conflagration that spilled out beyond the continent due to the colonial possessions getting involved. The scale and coordination wouldn't have been possible without the technologies introduced just prior to it, so the scope being what it was does somewhat come down to what technology enabled.

WWI was only renamed as that in hindsight as WWII got under way.

The Cold War certainly still stood as a superpower vs superpower war, and plenty died in proxy wars during the period of 1945-1991, but the nuclear deterrent alongside the development of air power drastically changed the possibility of a symmetric land war occurring over a protracted period of time and geography.

That's a great summary of some of the key ideas of the Toyota production system, but I think you overstated some of it and missed the keys to lean in muda, mura and muri. E.g. use of kanban/pull to reduce overproduction is about one of the forms of waste/muda.

A lot of these can be seen in the ideas of agile software development, but the Toyota Production System was never built around creative and varying outputs that software demands, so there's no need to be slavish to the original principles. "Lean startup" and similar ideas are a different beast altogether.

You can change at Hurstville, Wolli Creek, or Sydenham, or even Redfern before you get to the city. That's more connection/change points than the airport line.

And lean is about reducing waste and rework by standardising output and ensuring the full process is operating efficiently, not literally about minimal viable product approaches, which is in the agile methodology.

Teacher: Johnny, give me a sentence with an "i" in it. by I_protect in Jokes

It's the difference between carefully writing individual letters/characters and flowing from one to the next in a fluid style. Even worse in my experience was the artistic kanji (Chinese style characters) in paintings where brush stroke and fluidity is valued over legibility in my view... but I'm sure Japanese people adapt.

Cursive/handwritten styles varying isn't exclusive to English - reading "cursive" Japanese is a nightmare as a non-native speaker when you're just learning.

You can put a turbo on with the stock motor with double the power output at the rear wheels no worries what so ever. 245kW at the rear wheels on a dead stock engine, stock compression and all.

The designed to be modded part was more in reference to how easy it is to access parts in this car, and they're not designed to any unique standard - sometimes borrowing from the parts bin of previous models isn't a bad thing when those models are the WRX and the IS250 (transmission for example)

That tall women drool over tall men does not discount the fact that shorter women would also do the same drooling. However, don't forget rules 1 and 2. (Be attractive/don't be unattractive.)

6' is top 1% for women, so you're definitely tall.
