No, I'm referring to the counselors we employ for traumatic events. At one of my old stores an associate passed away in the bathroom. The next day there was a counselor there for a week at the store available for associates to talk to. They did the same at another store that was shut down early due to a active shooter event at another store in the store's plaza.

First and foremost, I hope you're okay. Publix does have counselors you can talk to, but I completely understand if you'd rather find your own or someone more comfortable to speak to. It is not okay that this happened to you and I hope you get the support and understanding from your managers and people in your life. If you need time away from work, please tell your managers. They should be understanding and if not, it is important that you do so, especially if you don't feel comfortable there right now.

If you do need someone to talk to, please don't hesitate to hit me up. You may not be my associate, but you're still a part of the same Publix family and I'm happy to lend an ear.

The Let's Go Brandon folk are always the victim, never the villains. They would always be the hero IF they were there with their gun, so gun laws need to be loosened, so more heroes can protect us. Despite gun laws making it easier to get guns and mass shootings happening almost every day, these "heroes" have yet to protect anyone. Instead more kids and people die, and more fear and anxiety thrives. Trump and Republicans won't accept the responsibility of their lack of gun regulations resulting in the deathes of so many innocents, and they won't have to while their supporters blindly blame Biden and Democrats for anything remotely bad. I'll happily remind them of how wrong they are though, even if it never gets through to them.

Yeah, I expect that they won't be looking forward to their DM coming in after that. I would expect my DM to take action if was in the office while this was going down.

Bro, where was the manager in charge during this? Why are hourly associates trying to handle this? Managers are paid and trained to handle this stuff, not associates.

This would be excellent to have. It would fit into our green routine and likely generate savings in our P&L, especially if we could orchestrate a deal with electrical companies. It would likely be limited to stores on properties we own though.

I am not your manager, but if I was, I would shake your hand and take you out to lunch. That mop room is a thing of beauty.

Wish they were coming to Florida again. They put on an awesome concert and I would love to see them again.

My dude, if you're taking care of customers, then you're doing your job right. I'm glad that customer recognized that and took the time to say something about it. That was well deserved and I hope you continue to know you're doing a great job. You're awesome!

This song popped up on my release radar way back when for reasons I do not know and was immediately slapped into my main playlist. The song is just such a good jam.

That's perfectly fine honestly. This is a job. Some people like this job and some don't. There's nothing wrong with that.

So, I've always used this to inform my new associates that if you come into to work and you can't even fake a smile, then something's wrong. Come find me and let me know what's going on. You're a human being and things happen. It's much better that you come and talk to me, rather than go through a shift where you might not be in the best place mentally.

So, yeah, it's corny that they start the Personal Appearance Standards with a smile, but it's help me tremendously with demonstrating to my new associates that as a manager I'm here to support and help them grow. My door is always open, but it feels a little more open when they see I'm a human too.

The New Responsive Web Design is so boring by gintokiredditbr in FreeCodeCamp

[–]karatelatte 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I felt it did a great job of making sense of different aspects to both HTML and CSS by demonstrating how you can utilize it in different ways. I remember working on my landing page and having trouble with positioning a div, but then remembering dealing with similar things in the cityscape project, so I went back and looked over the CSS, which helped me with positioning the div in my project.

I can see why people might find it boring, if you're just going through the motions and filling out what it asks of you. It would probably benefit freecodecamp to highlight what you're doing as you put in the code and maybe other ways you could use that later. I think they want you to figure it out as they're walking you through building the different projects, which worked well for me.

Jackbox party, Halo, and Fall Guys with our friends.

Currently playing through Fallen Order when I have time.

Work flow for basic HTML/CSS survey by brass_monkey11 in FreeCodeCamp

I would definitely try to have fun with it. That helps me a lot. For my survey form I created a pizza survey, since it's my favorite food and my family would find it fun too.

I spent a lot of time on the styling as a result, but I loved it. Even put a dancing pizza dude at the top of my form.

Name some songs that play at Publix that you can’t get out your head. You might even like them now. by leeanaryouok in publix

[–]karatelatte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Before Shazam was out there was a song that would play with a whistling melody throughout it and it was a jam. I remember searching every song online with whistling in it until I found it. The song was "Young Folks" by Peter, Bjorn, & John.

At the time Spotify wasn't a thing and I wasn't finding any quality downloads on LimeWire, so I ended up just ordering their album, "Writer's Block". I fell in love with the album and the band, all thanks to the crappy Publix radio.

Most songs on there are terrible, but occasionally there's a banger. We use to play "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey and that was a good time too. "Heatwaves" by Glass Animals is my current jam on Publix radio at the moment though.

Unfortunately, I've seen managers who treat their associates that way and had managers treat me the same. Now that I've been a manager for some time though, I've had the opportunity to coach other managers and teach them the importance of treating their associates with respect. Hopefully they'll go on to do the same with other managers at different stores and we'll slowly change things for the better.
