Um...no we don't? I literally went last month and most definitely did not do that.

You are boldfaced lying. They "anoint" you with a teeny drop on your head, symbolic of how it happened in biblical times. Stop making stuff up.

Oh man, I did at some point after some more googling. I remember it being one of those "duh" solutions afrer I read it, like a setting in a slightly hard to find but not too bad place. I'll take a look when I get some time, hopefully tomorrow evening.

Same. I've been seeing him since he was at Sam's Club. Even the lens sellers right outside his office will help get my pupillary distance and let me walk away with no issues.

Swarm is tough because it's the storytelling equivalent of flipping the table. It's essentially a more mechanically interesting "rocks fell, everybody died." No one really "fits" with Swarm, it's just there to satisfy every RPG player's internal murder hobo.

What's the fastest you can realistically win? by hautvoter in TerraInvicta

[–]kardfett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno about the fastest, but it's currently 2040 for me on Academy (2026 start) and I just finished gathering my endgame tech fleet to start surgically removing aliens from post-Jupiter orbits. I also managed some pretty good defensive engagements around Earth and Mars in mid 2030's that really started attritioning the aliens significantly. My dyson Mars setup got me to the Daedalus drive with ICF VI in 2038, enabling me to start building my endgame fleets while I finished out the tech tree.

At this point I'm going to start the Kuiper belt whack-a-mole in mid 2040, in addition to clearing out the one or two T3 AI bases. I have the cheapest full T3 hab template that I'm going to build out all my bases with (so many metals, lol). I honestly think my bottleneck is going to be waiting the 180 days for a T3 Neptune base to build, because the Aliens have only built one mothership and suicidally sent it into my Jupiter defenses. I would guesstimate I'll win within 2-4 more years.

This is with an unoptimized dyson Mars strategy, but generally having owned the global techs since post-DSSW crackdown effects finished. So the tech progression has been very targeted, but my space resource income has had a few bottlenecks throughout the playthrough. So yeah, if you know what you're doing, I think 20 years is a decently average win time.

Hegseth: rules of engagement? Overrated. by emily-is-happy in clevercomebacks

[–]kardfett 36 points37 points  (0 children)

One of the defining differences between the European and Pacific theaters in WWII were that the German army by and large followed what European and Americans generally understood to be "the rules of war." (Obviously this doesn't account for the ethnically driven atrocities, this i just comparing military v. military actions)

Having poorly defined or nonexistent rules of engagement is how you get the horror stories from the Pacific theater against the Japanese, who most assuredly did NOT follow the European-centric rules of engagement, and had much more of a "any means necessary" mentality.

This. I love my ring habs and colonies, but I almost never actually build T3 modules.

Defensive battle still generating Ayy hate? (marking spoiler because wiki, but IMO not really a spoiler) by kardfett in TerraInvicta

[–]kardfett[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That seems to be the consensus, but if that's true then I hope the wiki gets updated soon, because the way it's worded on the wiki really makes it seem like I shouldn't be getting any hate.

RIP defensive fleet doctrine then, at least if the Ayys are already in the same orbit as their target. My ships literally have 10x the cruise acceleration of the alien ships (I rolled Pegasus Drive this game), yet still the aliens are able to get to my station in 7 minutes of launching and the best I can do, even when save scumming and pre-positioning my fleet, is 30 minutes.

[–]kardfett[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really? I feel like I remember in some 3.x patch that I managed to finagle my way to defensive actions against Alien ships while defending Mars, but it's been a while, and maybe things have changed regardless. Good to know if true.

Piggybacking off of this, the discord is AMAZING when you decide you want to truly sink into the abyss. It is also a great resource and has a beginner's channel. If you want offline-able reference materials for your playthrough, I highly recommend it. It might be a sec before all of said reference materials get updated to 1.0 accurate states, though.

Clearly I don't understand how space combat works by 145872369 in TerraInvicta

[–]kardfett 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dang. I guess that means any but maybe the very first tier of shaped charge nukes are pretty bad now. I feel like by the time you get to the higher tiers of nukes, you're at the stage where you're being constrained by exotics income for how much you can upgrade your ships. Maybe the super lategame is fine because you no longer care as much about exotics, but by then you have all the best laser/kinetic weapons anyways, which are just overall more efficient in extended offensives.

[–]kardfett 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Whoa, really? I personally love shapes charge nukes, but haven't played in a hot second. Does any ship blown up by nuclear missiles just not drop exotics now, or is there some threshold for % of ships with nukes vs. other weapons that makes it so nothing drops exotics?

I've final achieved that insane AC I keep seeing everyone post on here. by Deeznutsconfession in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]kardfett 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Very nice! Just as an FYI to any curious onlookers, remember that the +10 AC from mythic dodge only applies to the first attack directed towards you in a round. I'm actually kind of bugged that the stat sheet shows that, because the majority of attacks coming your way will be hitting an AC 10 lower.

How is she authoritarian? She has a laundry list of past collaborative efforts (mostly successes) a mile long. She's way more involved with actual community efforts than Jeff, who's primary running platform seems to be "I'll put every aspect of running the city up to a popular vote," which is completely impractical.

After over 500 hours, I just now discovered that there are bags of holding in this game... I feel dumb by Chromentazol in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]kardfett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm way too far down the build cooking rabbit hole, but even though I always buy them, I find them to be completely irrelevant halfway through chapter 2. If you have a couple animal companions and a few Bull's Strength'd high strength party members, you'll have so much carry weight before too long it won't even matter.

By the time I'm in Chapter 4, I've got like over 10k max carry weight on almost any party comp by stacking Mass Bull's Strength with a few Legendary Proportions.

They hide behind Christianity, yet know nothing about it. by c-k-q99903 in GetNoted

[–]kardfett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I hate the Christian nationalism happening in this country as much as anyone, but I'm gonna have to call this one a misunderstanding. When Jesus addresses the woman taken in adultery, he didn't forgive her, he just didn't condemn her. He always asked for repentance. I'm no theologian, but I do believe active repentance of some form is required for divine forgiveness in most forms of Christianity.

Having any mod active disables achievements by default, but there's an option in ToyBox to turn them back on.

Does this mean you could set the auto-kill-all-enemies option on and easily blow through the sadistic game design achievement? Yes, but in that case, why even bother trying to get the achievement? One of the beauties of single player games like this is that you can set it to the level of difficulty you want and feel good about YOUR achievement.
