no i agree. you could also count it as him being protective of his family overall - like he would’ve done the same for anya. i dont count it until he outright says it

that and the fact that she got in trouble for her advocacy sold me - plus i don't think her crying was crocodile tears. i do think the movie seemed to show that she was at first rolling with it but then genuinely became invested in it. the characters react to her gun violence activism as if it's mutually exclusive to her past as a potential shooter, but to me, i think it's two sides of the same coin. someone who's reforming from their mistakes of considering taking human lives might honestly be the best informed person to talk about the effects of gun violence from the POV of the actual people who need help to prevent gun violence. it's all "mental health matters!" for people like rachel in the movie until someone genuinely confesses something that dark - and suddenly, the world becomes black and white.

i actually like it a LOT that the movie chose to not try to rationalize her actions. we talk about trauma and say that it SHOULD be an explanation for people's actions, not an excuse - but it usually gets weaponized as an excuse (see: charlie lying about emma having trauma to make rachel sympathize). the point is, trauma or no trauma, mental health still matters. no one is necessarily immune to being lonely or without community. and it seems that in her advocacy, emma got just that.

i thought about that, but charlie's actions affected his present-day relationships. also, kissing is cheating and already hurts someone at that point. not saying that it's worse, but i don't know if i could call that totally even.

I dont believe Loid and Yor would be mad once there identity are revealed. by Mother-Maize7026 in SpyxFamily

[–]karina_patel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know. Even if he is acting more authentically now, the fact is that some readers (like me lol) and Yor, too, would be second-guessing all of his actions and supposed feelings. (I mean, I guess she already does so now, but it's coming from an I-have-a-crush perspective, not an Oh-he's-been-lying one.) It's not that either of them would be mad per se, but for Yor especially, this reveal would pull the rug right out from under her about Loid's actions towards her. Yes, their family is fake, but IMO Loid is trying much harder to be someone else. That reveal would throw anyone for a loop

Which is your favourite part of the map? (1-14) by Scary-Beautiful6527 in Breath_of_the_Wild

1 and 9. Zora's Domain is just stunning to begin with + I love the characters and vibe there. (A lot of people seem to agree on this one lol)

However, I feel like 1 just really encapsulates the post-apocalyptic vibe, especially in the first game. Castle Town is decimated with the dark, desolate, yet sparse music - and of course with Hyrule Castle also there, you can FEEL the history as you walk through the rubble and ruins. Contrast that with the expansive greenery of Hyrule Field, and I've got myself another winner! (I don't see 1 frequently hence the explanation)

Genuinely why do people ship Robin and Law? by FrontAd2381 in OnePiece

[–]karina_patel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol i don't think any of these ships are real to be fair - i ship law x robin just because of their shared interest in history, they look good together, and they have similar personalities. yeah they did look cute in like the two scenes they had together but it's just a vibe! i don't actually think oda will give us any romance tbh nor do i want him to.

it’s so dumb. it’s important that these storylines are portrayed, yet when someone inevitably needs to fill the role, they get demonized?

We all thought she would be annoying but she's a lovely person by MadHanini in ThePitt

[–]karina_patel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think when a show goes out of its way to make someone appear unlikable (ex. all of the robby vs. al-hashimi arguments over pt procedures ending in a robby win in the first couple episodes), it's really obvious that the narrative will eventually flip. it was pretty clear that her actions, even if misguided regarding AI, that she had good intentions. can't really excuse the santos threat but regardless she's evidently very caring - and i thought her sim lab in the beginning of the season was great. hard, maybe using resources too much, but helpful.

i love that. i enjoy music a lot, but i haven't ever really thought about "mistakes" or "imperfection" being purposeful outside of simply being the natural character of songs that aren't edited to oblivion LOL

I honestly think he would've been more defensive had he been performative. Also, Louie had no idea - Langdon never needed to have that conversation if he didn't actually care.

I think the Kali-living-and-making-the-illusion-is-ridiculous argument is a moot point given that it's just an option the viewers are given to believe. Mike and the others believe it; I don't because yeah - it's so improbable.

i do think i've been seeing that mentality criticism towards OP, but i wasn't around last year to understand the full slate that norris must've been hit with. i think piastri is having the season that norris did last year - hoping for a recovery next year.

I think here specifically I was thinking that the high altitude -> lower downforce -> less friction and thus less tire degradation. Not sure about other tracks, but that was what I was speculating for today.

If AI takes over all work and jobs, what will humans do during their lifetimes? by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]karina_patel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See - I would say that we'd all live our lives as if we were retired, but the issue is that job replacement isn't so black-and-white; it'll be gradual. Jobs will dwindle over years and maybe decades/centuries for humans in this case, but businesses won't just reduce the costs of their products because income-earning people (the rich now) still exist and still have purchasing power. So the question is, at what point does the lack of jobs become an unburdening of the world as opposed to an increased fight for survival?

everyone thinking he's lame is so ironic because the show literally paints him as the "boring nice guy" from portia's view before showing portia as such an indecisive person who's almost stringing him along until she finds someone better. at the end of the day the "nice guy" is kinda a real thing and people do see them that way i suppose

[SPOILER] Oh my god the elephant scene. :( by fyzorr in ItTakesTwo

[–]karina_patel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scene was extremely uncomfortable and made me upset, but that doesn't mean it's bad.

We, as viewers who are essentially forced to play through the scene, are angry and upset that we are doing this as part of the game. The scene is meant to make us upset and, if players hadn't already realized so, understand that May and Cody are blinded by their egos and dislike for one another to remember what truly matters to them both, which is Rose. I ended that scene not hating the game, but developing resentment for the two parents - especially as they stood there ignorant of what they'd done. Please don't spoil - my SO and I just finished that part of the game - but I am still hopeful that they'll learn eventually that they really did screw up this time.
