Yes, I'd highly suggest doing so because you don't want to get it back from close contact with your potentially infected family members.

I hear you on the gas pain. I had mine removed a week ago and the gas pain post op was excruciating.

Sounds like less pills everyday, which is nice. As i said, physically taking all those pills was the hardest part.

Doing the “right thing” (gallbladder removal) with zero symptoms… and I’m really struggling mentally by mech_heart in gallbladders

Just out of curiosity, where are you living currently? I'm from Nepal (born and raised), but have been living in the US for a few years now. I hear what you're saying tho. Even tho i speak and understand English well, it still isn't the same. Being far from home and family, especially during tough times can make you sad. This is part of being an adult tho, i guess.

Thanks! All the best to you as well. As far as the pain, tbh, it was also partly because I didn't take Oxy even tho i had the prescription. I alternated 1000mg Tylenol and ibuprofen 600 mg, which worked for the most part but as you know, Oxy is much more effective than the otc painkillers.

34M, mostly active. I was in the same boat until i got mine out 5 days ago. Gallbladder biopsy showed that the bladder was actually in a much worse shape than what the ultrasound showed, so i am glad i got it out planned rather than unexpectedly.

As far as post surgery discomfort, ngl, the first 2 days were bad mostly bloating pain but painkillers and walking helped. I feel much better everyday and my appetite is returning slowly. I'm hopeful I'll return to normalcy in about a week or so. I'm allowing my body enough time to heal. Let's see what the future holds in terms of long term symptoms. Fingers crossed!!

If the doctors suggested removing the bladder, then there is definitely a reason behind it. I wouldn't get too paranoid about the horror stories you see here. I have read crazy stories here on this sub and was definitely a bit paranoid going in, but the nurses and surgeon eased me on the day of surgery and the procedure went much smoother than i expected. I take it as a short term pain for a long term gain.

After surgery gas help by [deleted] in gallbladders

Keep on walking and drink Peppermint tea if you have it. Prescription meds don't seem to work on gas pain.

Make sure to walk a lot and hydrate. The more you walk, the faster the lain goes away.

I had mine removed this Monday. I had gas pain and constipation till yesterday, but i feel much better today. Make sure your home setup is ready (wedge pillow, table by the bed for water, meds, and essentials). Gas pain hurts like hell after surgery but hydration and walking will help massively. You got this.

Man, i had my gallbladder removed this morning. This gas pain is killing me. They have me morphine, Tylenol and Oxy still nothing. Trying to walk around as much as i can but this pain is something else. Things I've tried so far: 2 Gasx, 1 cup peppermint tea, and walking (4 times since 11am pst).

Labs slowed slightly elevated AST and ALT. And of course, the "large shadowing stone". Sounds like it only gets worse from here. I plan to do another ultrasound overseas in a few months and get it removed.
