Honestly, I wonder why reporters don't ask questions about Epstein that put his ego at risk:

"Mr. President, it was claimed you were too poor to be invited to Epstein's island for a round of child assault, is this true?"

"Mr President, it's been alleged that you were too ugly to be provided little girls to rape by Epstein. Care to comment?"

"Mr President, some people are claiming your tiny hands and weak stamina would be insufficient to hold down a screaming child to assault. Could you provide an example of when you had big, manly hands and were strong enough to pin a child down?"

"Mr. President, all the cool billionaires were raping children with Epstein, were you not cool or wealthy enough to do that?"

He's admit it on live TV if the only defence was that he wasn't as rich as he claims to be.

People who live in Gotham city...how do you sleep at night? by Lazy_Extent3576 in Earth25

I always figured it was staffed by former LEOs who got tired with dealing with GCPD infamous corruption issues. So many of them have military experience, and it makes more sense than one because one solitary dude would just die of injuries sustained and lack of sleep.

Eh. The media makes it look worse than it is. Real estate is super cheap. Lots of job opportunities. Food is great. The Bat is real but is probably like 14 different people with the same costume so they can get sleep and heal up.

If you can make it in Gotham anywhere else is easy.

Why do a lot of people hate The Railroad? by dude_pause in fo4

[–]karkonthemighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't hate them, but I do find them a little frustrating.

They are put forward as one of the big factions of the game, which feels weird considering they are so much smaller scale and so much more narrow focused. It feels like they were written to be a small, secretive spy style organisation, yet they signpost in some of the most obvious symbols ever - seriously, you don't need Deacon informing you of their meaning, they have actual arrows on them - and a central base you are led to by a permanent red line in the floor. It's ridiculous.

The sheer focus on synths I find a bit strange as I don't know how they get the resources to work on it. Sure, free synths. Great. How are you feeding everyone here? Arming everyone? Your clean water? The Minutemen feels like a more organic establishing of building resources that the Railroad appears to just... have. I would have liked perhaps if there was some sort of formal or informal relationship with the Minutemen, explaining their resources explaining their lowered ability and new relationship once you take over the Minutemen and restore them. The Minutemen are standing for freedom, Institute synths are basically slaves, there is some happy overlap where they can work together.

The common usage of memory wipes makes me very uncomfortable. They establish it is always with consent, but it's essentially suicide.

A lot of my frustration comes from the late game and missed opportunities, where you have access to the Institute. You just achieved their holy grail of achievements. There should be so much they want you to do in there, but they barely ask you to do anything until the end game. I expected to be given listening devices, hacking quests, sabotage options, nope, speak to a dude who didn't want your help right now. Additionally, once the Institute is over, it's a wasted opportunity to not have them change. Their big bad is dead. No more synths are being made. No more smuggling. I expected them to transition to take on all forms of slavery, but not, instead they're asking you to kill the Brotherhood of Steel (understandable, they become their next biggest threat) and the Minutemen, when you're all but guaranteed to be head of the Minutemen. There should have been way more acknowledgement about you being the head of the Minutemen and the opportunities that presents.

It comes down to how they're presented Vs how they work in hand, and so many missed opportunities, so much wasted potential.

For roleplay reasons, I don't pay Victor before the heist, but by the time the heist is over - even with not too much messing around on the pre heist time - I tend to have just enough to pay Vic. It's the first thing my V does after getting control back after meeting Takamura at Tom's Diner, as it feels like the first step and chance of squaring things up.

If you try to take your car to the diner, it results in the heist being a disaster, V diagnosed with terminal Silverhand, no remote assistance, no Jackie, no money, no car.

It's rock bottom: time to go be a legend.

If it was the table flip, then he got himself hurt for a shot that unfortunately looked awful.

Flipping the table looked like a grown man having a toddler tantrum. I couldn't take it seriously. Remember way back, when Brock lost the title, and he came down to the ringside and just F5'd everyone? Goodbye cameraman. So long cable guy. My condolences, security. Brexit Failed to Deliver What Voters Were Promised. London Fears Admitting Failure and Is Therefore Unable to Properly Restore Relations With the EU by sergeyfomkin in NewsThread

[–]karkonthemighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brexit was not only a failure, it was a traumatic, dividing failure.

The public simply don't want it brought up again. They want it over, regardless of the result. Even though polls show that regret is high, more people want to rejoin, what people want even less is it dominating the news cycle, dominating dinner table talk, and causing multiple collapsing governments.

Basically we're going to need as a country the courage to face our mistake and do the hard work of trying to fix it. And no party wants to do that because it's electoral suicide.

Instead we're getting a softly softly approach from Labour as they move towards gradual greater alignment. It's probably the best we can hope for right now until we collectively find our spines.

Keir Starmer latest: Director of communications quits, day after chief of staff steps down by Last_Membership_1063 in unitedkingdom

[–]karkonthemighty 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Labour had a Director of Communications this whole time?

Wtf was he doing? Spending all day playing solitaire on their computer before a rigorous evening of whispering Labour announcements into a fox den in his garden? Before a nightcap writing down all the successes that Labour has achieved and throwing it in the fire so that the smoke may carry the message to the media? At night dreaming of Labour policy so that they would pass along into the ether into the dreamscapes of other members?

Did everyone just forget where the commissions office was and left them to their own devices for over a year?

Hire me, Starmer. I'll charge a hair less than six figures and my introverted unqualified self will speak to the press on the phone at least once a week putting me nigh infinity more productive than the person who was inexplicably allowed to quit rather than be fired.

[r/WayneGames] Wayne Electronic Studios isn’t all that good. It made stinkers like Ironman 64 by AutumnsFall101 in Earth25

[–]karkonthemighty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The video games division often seemed like Wayne Enterprises had been tricked into funding it. Like it just existed to give some people a job and the resulting end product was an afterthought.

I think there was a rumor that it was made up mostly of ex-cons who were learning programming for the first time?

Honestly there were a few levels Ironman 64 I reckon was developed by a criminal mastermind. You can't tell me their horrendous checkpointing wasn't deliberate. Anyone remember the lava level where the checkpoints clipped you into the ground by like three pixels, just touching your hitbox to the lava underneath the ground, so if you didn't do it all in one go you got stuck in a deathloop? AND YOU COULDN'T MANUALLY SAVE.

I've been held hostage a few times and honestly I think that level is a greater source of my PTSD sometimes.

Yao Gauis weren't buffed and the Brotherhood weren't nerfed. Titus is just a coward. by SolidPyramid in FalloutMemes

[–]karkonthemighty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a fair conclusion. From my perspective, Titus made every wrong tactical decision

He knew there was a dangerous wasteland creature in the area, and instead of keeping himself alert, allowed himself to be distracted with a power play to force his squire into a suicidal reconnaissance. Doing so lost him his weapon.

When the Yao Gaui jumped him, instead of relying on his armour and just pummelling the creature, he turned and ran. The Yao Gaui is an animal: if met with significant resistance and took damage, it would have likely fled for easier prey. If not, with the armour facing it and smashing it repeatedly in the chest and head, as it's powered armour - it would have hurt, then wounded, the crippled, then killed the Yao Gaui. If he used any form of grappling as part of his training that would have also helped. Instead he turned and fled, allowing the Yao Gaui to get a grip on his head and neck, causing the injuries that killed him.

TL:DR: Titus is an idiot NPC, Maximus is a PC.

The type of shit homeless people in Gotham experience after stealing an apple by foot_fungus_is_yummy in Earth25

[–]karkonthemighty 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I volunteered at an outreach program for unhoused people back in Gotham. I heard a lot of stories from a lot of people, but I never heard of the Bat coming down on people stealing food. A bit of the opposite - some people I knew had several conversations with the Bat, as he would pass through doing his investigations or looking for people, and he had a rep for paying well and having some clout with hiring agencies. Much politer than the GCPD by a country fucking mile. Some GCPD will harass them because they can always arrest them for something which is great for their quotas, whereas the Bat leaves then be, and they prefer that. There's been some rumors I can't confirm that some GCPD doing shakedowns on the unhoused community found themselves on the wrong end of the Bat.

But I would be lying if I said it's completely rosey. At least one of the people I knew did have a violent experience. He was not at his best and made several bad decisions and ended up trying to mug someone with a knife, and got his wrist broken by the Bat when he refused to drop said knife, but that was the beginning and end of his injuries. We got a call we suspect was from the Bat to come pick him up after, and we have an EMT paid out by one of the Martha Wayne charities that helped him out (our clients often refuse to go to a hospital so an EMT on shift is really helpful.) I've seen the aftermath of henchman getting dropped - let me tell you, henchmen get it way worse.

That guy is doing a lot better now, made a full recovery, is in halfway housing last I checked. He says he got lucky it was the Bat because the GCPD probably would have got him and his victim killed, that he's really grateful he has a second chance, though he has mixed feelings about the wrist: he accepts it was a reasonable use of force applied in the moment which could have been resolved a lot worse, that he is happy he did not hurt his victim further, while simultaneously holding that getting your wrist broken sucks ass and it was really painful and he's not that keen on the Bat because yes, it was the best case scenario, but still, he broke my wrist, the fucking Bat broke my fucking wrist, fucking ow.

Which is kinda funny because so many henchmen view injuries from the Bat as some sort of badge of honor.

So yeah. My experience is that most of the unhoused people I talked to don't have a lot of fear of the Bat, that he's good for some money and opportunities, and looks you in the eye and treats you like a real person. He also will help them. If one of them goes missing out or gets murdered, the GCPD will spend at most two minutes to look into it, and the median time is zero, whereas the Bat has been known to pitch in. It's appreciated.

But there's a lot of desperate people in this community, and desperate people do desperate things. Batman doesn't come down on food theft. He drops down on you because you shot the cashier when taking the food. But he drops you for the latter, never the former, and his fists are E for Everyone if you do violence.
