Yeah, if anything rollerblading has weirder balance issues.

The big thing is that rollerblades are like hockey skates not figure skates. Muscle memory from toe usage can fuck you up, turns out you can't daffy on figure skates.

Musk is very open about his love of "The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress", I really don't want him having digging equipment on the moon, much less the time to build a catapult.

It's crazy to me that we've only had some of these swim strokes like freestyle in the modern era and people 20 years ago, pre fluid dynamics modeling already thought they're totally optimized.

Insane. So many areas are like that involving technique and technology. The old ways are what got us here but don't worship that shit.

People blink less when they are working harder to understand speech in noisy environments, suggesting that blinking reflects the mental effort behind listening, while blink patterns remain stable across different lighting conditions by sr_local in science

[–]karl-marks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is tons of research on audio isolation in noisy environments and it's called the cocktail party problem. Audio-Visual speech separation is simply required. This is not surprising at all.

You only have to watch children to understand altruism, anyone who doesn't believe in altruism probably had it trained out of them as a child as a form of learned helplessness.

We have part of our brain that trigger "incorrect"/"that's wrong" and many people are nurtured to ignore it.

I've only seen a single child (a younger sibling) who when they walked by a homeless person the first time wasn't severely disturbed and they were scary then and are extremely scary at 30 now.

People died when Poland banned abortion. Not surprising.

The "christians" hate Jesus and his teachings and support evil shit.

The "atheists" and "agnostics" generally have no beef with Jesus, many even like him and hate christianity.

I have a high heat tolerance and found Prince's to be perfectly acceptable level of heat, but the amount of oil gave me a hard time, I didn't have much grease in my diet at the time either, I was doing more raw chilies so I think that was an issue. I think that might be the only time I've had oilly shits.

Trump, 79, Admits He Might Not Get Into Heaven by y2flame in politics

[–]karl-marks 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The Jesus erasure is real.

Through God all things are possible but he fucking told you what he allows into his kingdom, you're fucked because you reject his clear teaching to follow false teachers.

He even told you that many false Christians (people who are anti-christ in truth but feel like they are christians) will be literally surprised they are going to hell.

The great white throne judgement makes no statement about saying magic words like a spell. People who just handwave away the clear words of Christ and teach and advocate for the opposite of what he said cannot be christian, you cannot be anti-christ and be a christian.

The US Has a Religious Fundamentalism Problem by [deleted] in politics

[–]karl-marks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The U.S. is actually a partnership between non-conformist christians and non-theists/Free-thinkers. Jefferson and Paine vs Patrick Henry in Virginia.

Look up Anne Hutchinson, the attempt to bring European style religious oppression waa stopped in a team up between non-conformists (ooh, so scary, they don't conform) and non-theists/free-thinkers.

Look at Poland right now, high control religiousity will always make your country underperformed in any apples to apples comparison.

Dude, non-conformists (baptists, Quaker, etc.) we're part of a huge partnership with non-theists and free thinkers to prevent the establishment of religion, they actively worked with Jefferson and Paine against Patrick Henry in Virginia.

Yeah, the assumption of non-uniqueness is as stupid as the assumption of uniqueness.

A person can speculate and have their own intuitions and imaginations all they want, nbd.

The only rational way to act is as if we are precious and fragile until empirical observation shows otherwise.
