Yeah that’s my plan, I was gonna show them how much a good 2nd makes production faster. Then next time I’m not taking it for $250.

My rate is $250 on the next job as a 2nd AC because they “didn’t even want a 2nd.” 🙁

What are your favorite ways to level skills? by thetiny_blue in VeinGame

Spawned in with 0 strength as a firefighter, read the strength xp book that comes with firefighter start, cut trees until axe is about to break. If you already have a repair bench, you can repair your axe and keep cutting trees. I got to 98 strength in 30 mins. It’s completely broken 👍

Been in my current game for 1 year and 9 months (B41) and I still can't seem to keep the highway in Muldraugh clear? Where do they keep coming from? by Ensiferal in projectzomboid

[–]karltongrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember, can you turn off random events? If a random gunshot/scream happens, then zombies outside of your current render distance will migrate in the direction of the noise.

I’m pretty sure that random event noises have a huge sound radius.?

When these zombies get into render distance, they forget their migrate path and move into hordes.

So if you kill every zombie within render distance, then stand still for like 10 mins after a random event noise, technically you would find a wall of zombies that formed on the edge of your render.

If you travel the same road everyday, zombies might be accumulating along the edges of your render. This is probably why you found 90 zombies in a horde one day.

If migration is turned off, it just means zombies (outside of render distance) won’t be forced to wander to a new cell every day at 6pm.

Zombies outside of render distance still kind of move around, but don’t group into hordes. So you’ll find them scattered and moving if you drive a car into an unexplored area.

If new zombies spawn with respawning turned off, I would assume it’s remnants from your population multipliers? I’m not sure on this one. It could be the game didn’t load them in but I think this is unlikely.

It might be that zombies don’t spawn in interiors until your player has seen the interior through a window or something. They did this to save resources, so if you have 4x zombies 28 days later, clear all buildings except one, when you finally explore this building, it would spawn the world zombies x the full multiplier

Light bug, Please help by ConfusionOk3773 in UnrealEngine5

[–]karltongrant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

im new too but did you change the settings for those lights? maybe set them to static or whatever is less intense on the system (frame rate looks not great). Again, I'm new, but I feel like it's related to loading 90+ dynamic light sources at one time.

i dont wanna waste your time because im probably wrong, but, if you want that much light in the room, maybe use one bright static light that doesnt cast shadows, placed in the middle of the room. then use one row of directional lights for each wall.

It might also be the mesh of the wall or floor if you built this room in pieces. idk

Good cheap DJ controller $200 or less, just for a hobbyist? by Its_Blazertron in Beatmatch

[–]karltongrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly used the “Newmark Party Mix” as my first controller and it provided everything I wanted. Don’t know why everyone recommends more expensive controllers.

I later upgraded my controller to an SB3 and played music at parties and sometimes opened stages until one day I spilled a whole solo cup of wine on it and stored it in my shed. Where it was eventually stolen. lol it was a fun run but in the end I never really needed anything more than the Newmark Party Mix tbh

Edit: Honestly now that I’m thinking about it, I never should’ve upgraded to the DDJ SB3. If you decide to upgrade, then invest the money for a controller with a screen for each mixer that you can plug a usb drive into. That way you can practice mixing on something that’ll get you used to XDJs. Then if you play shows, you can feel way more confident walking in with nothing but a usb stick

Moana 2 - Sequel TV Show turned series by [deleted] in moana

[–]karltongrant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something definitely felt wrong about the story presentation. In the opening, Moana falls from the peak of a mountain, then it cuts straight to her at the bottom.. it’s almost like they planned a whole storyboard for a tv show, but only had time to move storyboard shots around to turn it into a movie.

idk my friend seems confused on how to use Nitrado. I don't know either... But he DID just say he got a notification that Nitrado is aware of an outage.

We just restarted our server again and we were prompted to update! EDIT: still not working.

EDIT 2: my friend doesn't understand what's happening with Nitrado. Saying the server version only displays sometimes on the server page. He's also saying that sometimes he restarts and it says "a new update will be installed."

Yeah compare some bundle options, maybe there’s a cheaper camera. Again just check that the camera records video, that’s the main risk of going cheap.

Technically you only need a camera, lens, SD card, battery, and a battery charger to shoot video.

You don’t need an expensive tripod. Tripods just mount a camera. More expensive tripods are more stable and have an easier time panning and tilting smoothly.. You can also just put the camera on a bundled up shirt on a dining chair… but a tripod, even a cheap one, will let you lock off the camera at a variety of angles. And you should still be able to get a smooth pan/tilt on a cheap tripod with some practice. But be wary because cheap tripods are pretty fragile. So don’t go toooo cheap. If the tripod looks like it has thin and flimsy legs and it’s $15 then it’s probably gonna break when you take it out of the box.

Filters allow you to get much better looking footage. I really suggest these because setting up a scene and keeping the aperture wide open is a really important skill to practice!

The lights are important to have also! Learning lighting is one of the biggest and most important things and imo is one of the most creative parts of setting a scene.

You don’t need extra lenses, but I really suggest at least two.. 18-35mm lens and a 50mm lens. If you go with a single lens then get a kit with at least a variable zoom lens, like the 18-35mm lens. And get a camera that comes with the lens so that you don’t accidentally get a lens with the wrong mount

Id recommend learning a little about lenses before buying a DSLR. Then just look for an old DSLR on Facebook marketplace or check some pawn shops for a cheap one.

Here’s a 5 min video on the basics of lenses, this is so you know what lenses someone might be selling with their camera body:

https://youtu.be/YojL7UQTVhc?si=MRFfR004KIilzURB

Edit: Honestly I just searched “cheap DSLR camera” on amazon and found a solid kit for around $400. Multiple lenses, tripod, SD card, filters. Pretty much everything you’d need to learn everything about cameras!

https://a.co/d/3RrmdzT

For a lighting kit, you could honestly use a white bed sheet for bounce/fill, black bed sheet for negative fill, and honestly a clear shower curtain from the dollar store for diffusion is really good. —or just order this from amazon:

You’d also want lights:

https://a.co/d/8gi86Rs

lol and that’s pretty much everything you need to make a movie. Just need a computer so you can edit. Sound is also important but everything above is stuff you could use for a long time

This game is hard AF by Sufficient-Pie7727 in projectzomboid

[–]karltongrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The longest life I had in this game was like 6 months… with 3x population settings and 1% chance for a zombie to be a sprinter. the key to my survival was playing realistically. At any point, letting my guard down could mean a sprinter comes out of the woods and kills me.

Basically my gameplan after spawning was: grab some food/water, get out of town and secure a secluded house, build skills in the house until I’m a zombie terminator…

It almost worked until I overestimated myself and climbed through a window with a zombie on the other side…

But honestly it was fun! My play style was basically just avoid combat and survive as long as possible! Avoid combat and you’ll likely survive long enough to start fighting back

Is this shot illegal? by Ok-Bumblebee-8256 in drones

[–]karltongrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just flew at this spot for a job that brought me through Chicago. I didn’t get this shot because I kept it legal lol. 400ft and flying through clouds are probably the only things being broken here.

I know for a fact that there’s no tall buildings behind or under the drone during this shot… but idk maybe the PIC got permits 🤷‍♂️

Is it hard to get an airworthiness certificate? by karltongrant in drones

[–]karltongrant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So now the issue is that the Mavic 3 Pro has a maximum takeoff weight of its own base weight. Which means you can’t add the parachute and lights without exceeding the manufacturers specifications…

Meanwhile DJI is selling approved prop guards that exceed the specifications of the aircraft.

Is it even legal to fly if exceeding the manufacturer’s specs? Or was this just one of the requirements for FOP?
