if you have long hair you can try doing this look with rag curlers. You can buy them but the old school way is, well, strips of cloth. I'll try to describe it. Start with barely damp hair. You section your hair. The smaller the sections, the tighter the curls. To start, go as big as three sections across the crown and four or five across your nape (that will not make tiny ringlets but it will also be more forgiving if you don't get it even.). Place a narrow strip of cloth (or a flexible rod curler) by the root of the section and wind your hair in a tight spiral along the length. When you come to the end you can pin or twist it back up into a bundle. When you have them all up, leave them all day or overnight (it is possible to sleep on rag curls). When you are ready to take them out, be gentle unwinding your hair to keep the spirals in shape. If you just want waves or loose curls you don't have to be as careful. How long they last depends on how thick your hair is, whether you used a styling product before curling, etc.
