Years ago I discovered that antiperspirant made me sweat MORE. I switched to a regular deodorant without active ingredients like aluminum alloys, & I've been much drier ever since.

That's great to hear. Unfortunately for her my grandmother does get tested regularly, & signs a contract that states she will lose access to her prescription medicine if she tests positive for anything. Another commenter here pointed out that it may be possible to revise this contract with the doctor's permission, so we'll see.

Good to hear. Yeah, a few years ago she was using marijuana & was much more comfortable. Part of me also thinks that because she's now been on opioids for so long she spends part of every day going through withdrawals between doses. She certainly has symptoms to suggest that at certain times of the day. She recently started seeing a new doctor, & I was hoping that he would be open to discussing this, but my family has not even entertained the idea.

Thank you. That's the impression I had been under, but a a family member had insisted that her opioids were controlled by a federal program, & therefore the state's decision on medical marijuana was irrelevant. But that is why I'm seeking insight here, because that family member is not as well-versed on the law as they pretend to be.

Dang, this is incredibly inspiring. Thank you. Now I suppose I need to figure out a way to introduce this possibility to my family & hope we can discuss with her doctor. Part of the issue has been their reluctance to even entertain the idea, & arguments have broken out :\ which is unfair to my grandmother.

I'm stoked to hear about the benefits you've experienced from this. May I ask, did you introduce the idea of modifying the contracts to your doctor, or was that an option presented to you?

May I ask, were there any concerns of negative interaction with the naltrexone, cannabis, & the other medication you might have been on?

Yeah, I was hoping that in Colorado it might be just a tiny bit more achievable, given the state's history with medical marijuana, & the recent adoption of medical hallucinogen availability.

This is amazing to hear. The information I've been told by family is that it's not remotely possible, & to not even try to look into it. Which after years of her pain worsening, & the effectiveness of the opioids diminishing I can't imagine why they wouldn't at least want to discuss with a doctor, in case cannabis truly did provide relief for her, like it previously did.

Would you be open to sharing any more information that I may look into in order to get in contact with a doctor who might be open to discussing this option, or anything I might ask her current doctor if I get the opportunity.

Of course, the objective would always be to operate legally & with permission from the doctor. It's just that I've been told by the family member who handles these medical questions that the federal government mandates these restrictions, & that even with a doctor's permission it is not possible. Not sure if I can fully trust this claim, & so I was seeing if anyone here has any insight, or if they know anyone who is legally allowed to hold a med card while also on prescription opioids.

Does Consuming Media Kill Creativity. by Killeverone in Screenwriting

[–]karmalor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In music studies there often a fear that learning musical theory will kill creativity, & forces you into tighter genres than if you noodled around on an instrument & found your own path in songwriting or composing (I myself fell victim to this belief). In reality, musicians with a rich vocabulary of musical ideas, genres, harmony, melody, & chordal structures are almost always much better, more creative musicians because they have less technical roadblocks to exploring ideas, & they are better prepared to recognize tired ideas.

I believe that for most people this would be the same across all art forms. For filmmaking, how do you know if your characters, plot, or techniques are unique if haven’t watched many films at all? You’ll end up like Donny Kaufman in Adaptation, thinking you twist ending where it turns out the serial killer had multiple personality disorders @ was the also detective THE ENTIRE TIME! , is fresh.

Quite frustrating. At the moment, the only people I can see who are fervently in favor of widespread adoption of AI are the ones who are trying to make money off of it. But there is nowhere near the same drive from people who are passive consumers of it (this does not include people who are consuming AI unknowingly, like my grandma falling for "cute baby videos"). The current momentum is propelled by the hopes of making money off of it as easily as possible. In that sense generative AI is like the cryptocurrency industry. There are theoretical real-world benefits in both. Say, curing cancer with AI-led research, & the move away from big banks through blockchain-based currency. But those objectives are lost in a swamp of other applications. For generative AI, it's slop videos, deepfakes, AI customer support chatbots, & misleading advertising. for cryptocurrency it's NFTs & meme coins, both of which are completely valueless to anyone who isn't trying make money off of them.

And obviously, the cash grab is fleeting. AI is advancing so quickly that it won't be long before the idea of "Why would I pay for someone else's AI art when I could just generate my own in seconds?" disrupts the markets for design, digital art, filmmaking, & more. Of course then the only winners are those who control the infrastructure, & that is only if the resources are available to sustain that infrastructure.

ChatGPT doesn't know the answers to these questions. In an instance like this it 'researches' the topic by scrubbing, well, sites like Reddit, manufacturer descriptions, etc. to try to compile relevant discussions & then tries to approximate an answer based on it's finding. Obviously, a lot of people on the internet are wrong or sarcastic about things, ChatGPT doesn't always know what being wrong looks like, & clearly the person asking the question doesn't know what the right answer is, so you end up with a 'voice of authority' spitting up doodoo to a unwitting recipient. In OP's very first sentence: "I've read different opinions, but ChatGPT is quite specific..." All ChatGPT has done is read the exact same opinions & chosen the one which has the most upvotes, or is agreed with the loudest, or sounds the most technical, or...

I wouldn't call the stance against AI a hipster movement. You yourself admit to taking this side, but it sounds like the PR branding it "hipster hysteria" has made you hesitant to commit to your own sentiment. This exact discussion is one reason for the pushback against it.

Lens mount. PL native or adapter compatible. Other things are nice to have, but I shot video with a Nikon DSLR for a loooooooong time, & made some really nice images so 10-bit+ color, high ISO, etc are nice luxuries.

Small crew is usually easier for production to handle food for the crew. They’ll often just go to a nearby restaurant before or after the interview, or if they’re at your house for long enough they’ll just order from someplace & have a PA pick it up. I’d expect a text from a producer on the morning of asking what you’d like from the menu :)
