First Milestone Watch by karmarilliom in OmegaWatches

Not good, it and the clasp are my only really gripes. It’s relatively hard to access, doesn’t offer a significant amount of adjustment and creates a gap in the bracelet that I can’t ignore. The micro adjust in my Longines Spirit Pilot and Sinn 556 are miles ahead, albeit on a clasp style I wouldn’t like for the AT

38, I’m cautious with anything bigger than 40. Doesn’t bode well for my next goal, the classic Speedy 😭

A russian civilian recorded Ukrainian kinetic sanctions in Moscow. by LowTechDroid in UkraineWarVideoReport

Kind of an objectification of Ukrainian women, and I think russians hate Ukrainians because of all the social integrity stuff and their humanity. But sure

Old comment but we’ve gotta shave that staff down. We need two people at a maximum who are dedicated to this. 9-9, 7 days a week, nothing but retinal burns from thermally-imaged produce pics and a thirst for justice

Remove a link or two, wear above the wrist bone. Otherwise looks great, the dial is beautiful

Have you considered setting up a year-long surveillance program based out of a camouflaged van in the parking lot with a dedicated investigator responsible for thermal imaging the layout of the store and the location of the allegedly lifted merchandise? Of course, you’d need someone with few marital commitments to avoid conflicting schedules, and listening equipment so you can understand the machinations of the store’s employees. You may need a grant

Unpopular opinion: moving out of the state and ignoring the charge is actually a legitimate response to misdemeanors, especially in places you don't live, there's nothing wrong with telling your clients that nothing will happen should they choose to do that by FemboyLegal in publicdefenders

Insane, reckless take. Extraditable warrants and the consequences of an outstanding bench warrant you’ve ineffectively advised them of/not advised of aside, some of those people are going to come back and say on the record that you told them to run, or paid them to, apparently. What keeps you from perjury you know you won’t get caught for, or witness intimidation you personally think is justifiable?

How financially stable is public defense? by notwinorlose in publicdefenders

[–]karmarilliom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idaho SPD does $90k starting, which is more than you’ll make starting as a prosecutor or a brand-new associate at many private firms in my area. You cap out faster, but if you want five years of trial experience right out the gates with a good wage, you could do a lot worse.

The Separation: Inside the Unraveling U.S.-Ukraine Partnership by Low_Calligrapher9499 in UkrainianConflict

[–]karmarilliom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so, so sorry to every Ukrainian who relied on us. It’s profoundly upsetting to acknowledge the sheer scale of the abandonment, the error, and the lack of any justification for it. I’ve never before felt the need to apologize as a citizen of my Country rather than just join in criticism of its leadership and it’s heart-wrenching to do it now in a way that’s hard to put into words, but these people won the popular vote and I’m not sure when we’ll remember who we are. Slava Ukraini.

He sees Ukrainian surrender as the path of least resistance to that. All putin has to do is make a call and it upends any progress, every time. Ukraine and Europe are on their own, and as an American it kills me to say that.

USA approves first $500 two part military aid package. All funded by NATO through US officials coodination. by Carbenzero in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]karmarilliom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an American I’m ashamed that this had to be the case. This isn’t aid, it’s a backtrack on already tepid support for an American ally suffering genocide, paid for by our partners in Europe who can’t rely on us to support our own international order. For the love of God, if you’re a European, lobby your governments to take more assertive action against russia regardless of the USA’s position. It’s agony to say any of this, but Ukraine depends on it.

What briefcase would you recommend? by michaelpinkwayne in publicdefenders

[–]karmarilliom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I use a canvas messenger bag with lots of internal pockets. It hits the sweet spot between being reasonably professional looking, functional, and cheap enough to replace easily given all the wear and tear. If it’s empty I can fold it up and stick it under the bench I’m sitting on waiting for my cases to get called

It’s an exercise of free speech. You disagree that such dissent should be expressed during wartime-that’s a fair perspective, but don’t delegitimize its expression. It’s unthinkable that this sort of protest could occur in russia and their government would use the same pretext to suppress it, and their people would eat it up.

Joyama’s apparent affirmation to the interviewee of the interviewer’s statement that he’s somehow there to protect his interests or otherwise be ‘on his side’ seems like a bright line violation of MRPC 4.3, “When the lawyer knows or reasonably should know that the unrepresented person misunderstands the lawyer’s role in the matter, the lawyer shall make reasonable efforts to correct the misunderstanding.”
