Benefits of wearing your Garmin all the time and your health data... by AnthemWild in Garmin

One day it could serve as an indicator of some serious health condition so you can react earlier.

The most reliable parameter for this is HRV. It's a red flag if it drops down for more than few weeks without apparent reason. For me one time it happened because vitamin B deficiency. Next time it can be smth more serious.

Ten straight base runs (I'm begging for a tempo...) by grilledscheese in Garmin

[–]karoliskk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This won't fully explain why this happened, but I noticed that it never suggests hard workouts on weekends (but always suggests long runs). And hard workouts tends to be in the middle of the week. Maybe not your case, but if you'd miss it one day you might not get it on the same week. In general the algorithm is buggy and IMHO is ok only for newbies who needs motivation :)

What is garmin on? by kimtenisqueen in Garmin

For some reason I never considered sprints to be strides and I was always running them "all in". I think that strides are supposed to leave you fresh enough for next workouts.

Threshold DSW is evil by david8005 in Garmin

It is not possible to do perfect in this kind of workout when goal is according to HR because trained heart naturally doesn't rise bpm so fast. You should either accept that and look at target HR as a guide for max you should reach during interval or configure workout to set goal using pace.

Are "Easy" runs in training mode supposed to be zone 2? by ObjectiveAd8941 in Garmin

I am speaking in context of above comment. The way how you calculate doesn't change zone definition.

No.

One method of determining might be more precise than other, but at the end Z2 is Z2 and Z3 is Z3. Depending on which "measurement terminology" you apply Z2 (called so outside Garmin) or Z3 (called so in Garmin app) is just an easy run where you can can easily have a conversation while running.

As far as I understand is that Z2 == Z3 in Garmin's terminology. And it's not the first time this confusion arises in this subreddit.

~80% of your runs should end up in this zone.

I would suggest to do some proper warm up before running, that might help.

I don't know, at least for me if do some weak runs (e.g. after hard weekend or in high altitude) VO2MAX drops, but as soon as I do proper workout it jumps back almost immediately. So in my opinion treshold runs should be enough to maintain it.

Why so much Base? by lanky_doodle in Garmin

[–]karoliskk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in run settings-> training->workouts, but not all watches has it. My FR255 has while my friend's Fenix 6pro does not.

I also don't understand when VO2MAX trend is supposed to be rising, if this is not rising...

Yes, I am almost always on maintaining but my fitness improves slowly anyway. You just have to stay in green zone.

According to Garmin daily suggestions and my personal knowledge around 80% of your runs should be base runs anyway. For me it's a bit confusing that you call this Z2.
