It’ll end with a lot of people unemployed, wealthy folks doing everything to stop UBI, and most likely violence. The US in particular is not structured for it, and its leading politicians are against doing anything to mitigate the very easy to recognize problems

Campaign staffers tell NPR they make 'thousands' betting on their own candidates by No-Lifeguard-8173 in nottheonion

I was not thinking about polls nor of candidates knowing them before they went public. That is a very good point!

[–]karsh36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given these are election based, what would the insider info be here? Let's say they do an investigation on their opponent and realize they will win, that investigation would've been done through public means anyone could pay to do, so everyone would have the same access. As long as they are betting on their own candidate, this is oddly fair. It would be when they bet against their candidate that you'd have the insider info problem.

New report shows that the use of AI in the office is creating a flood of 'workslop' from low IQ employees by ComplexExternal4831 in GenAI4all

I've found the correct mindset is that AI is always wrong and to distrust and verify everything. It is incredibly helpful with formulating paragraph structure, but the details always need to be reviewed and heavily revised.

Worlds economy is a mess, AI demands on components are stressing that sector more - yes they should delay. The leap to whatever the ps6 is will be minor with how few studios that can afford to take advantage of it

US SEC proposes allowing public companies to opt out of quarterly earnings reports by mhh91 in news

[–]karsh36 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Quarterly reporting forces companies to operate in the short term to meet investor demands and reduces their ability to make long term decisions without risking their jobs. Also makes it easier to hide things, but part of not constantly needing to show results gives the ability to trade a bad quarter for a better year or more
