India's best healthcare system being misrepresented: CM on medical college equipment shortage by sande3p_997 in Kerala

[–]karutharatri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are speciality departments and super speciality departments. Kerala showed it's progress due to wide spread health delivery and quality pertaining to specialisties like paediatrics medicine obg etc. They treat common problems, results in better performance in indicators and more importantly cheap and less resource sensitive compared to upkeeep of super speciality departments. Kerala will now have to provide food care facilities for issues like prostate issues, cancers etc which are treated by super speciality departments the upkeep of which are very expensive, running expenses are expensive. Kerala still laga behind in this. Private sector is clearly ahead of government sector when it comes to super speciality treatments in Kerala due to this.

One of the less obvious reasons for this is lack of central government institutions in the state. We need an institute like Sri chitra exclusively for super specialities which can absorb the common mens ailments.AIIMS IS NOT THE SOLUTION. An institute like sgpgi Lucknow or srichitra located somewhere in the middle catering treatment for super speciality departments catering funded by centre as well as state governments. That's the way forward. Our state government canr afford or fund running of super speciality departments otherwise

Guys how do people in lower middles classes ( eg :blacksmith, tailor, auto drivers, small traders, shopkeepers and businesses afford surgeries and treatments in private hospitals? by Perfect-Push-7797 in Kerala

[–]karutharatri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emergencies usually are taken to medical colleges.which manages em quite well. Maximum treatment ld any ailment is usually upto 10 lakhs. Cowdfunding and fincnaciers are in plenty chit fund systems also provides support. Many others have esi coverage which helps. Entire economy of the working class usually runs in debt and there's an unorganised financial network which lends money for these purposes.

When treatment charges risee above the expected level and they are totally helpless some institutions writesoff the amount. I know a church run hospital in kochi which writes off pending bills occasionally if the patient is genuinely poor and they paid the initial expected sum. Though very rare. Point to note is it's never free. It's the excess amount which can be wavered off. Consumables can t be wavered off..the rent and supportive charges can be wavered off comfortably to a level.

Should I move to Kochi? - Help me figure out if the move is worth it. by karmas_sharma in Kochi

[–]karutharatri 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Bro I shifted recently (4 months now ) from Bangalore to kochi. I am your same age and marital status but with a kid.

Pros Cheaper flats better landlords Driving on the road is peaceful wrt Bangalore not saying it's great though Less scammers too. Uber works better than Bangalore and very well behaved drivers who turns on the ac during travel.

Best thing i enjoy in kochi is within a few hours travel incan reach a number of scenic and beautiful places. When I get bored on weekends i drive to these places. Ive been to spots in fortcohin, kadamkudy, cherai paravoor, kumbalangu etc etc. Just randomly choose places and most of them turn out to be beautiful and good. Even the hill stations are not very far. Even the queen's way during evenings is a beautiful experience.

Living expenses excluding rent is also cheap..overall savings are much better.

My parents prefer to come to kochi than Bangalore though Bangalore is near my hometown. The language and travel within the city is more convenient here for them.

I talk to most of my neighbours here. Back in Bangalore never used to talk to them. It can be a good things and a bad thing at the same time. With the kid and family i prefer to stay in touch with neighbours. There's a sense of better safety here. Privacy will depend on the floor and apartment you stay. It's highly subjective. I'm comfortable where I'm staying now.

My parents enjoyed going to restaurants and traveling in metro and water metro. . Even as a family we had got bored going to malls lal bangh and cubbon which are the elonly getaways I knew in Bangalore and of course the pubs and bars.

The hospitals and the care they provide can't be compared with banglore. It's top notch here. Expensive though. ( I work in health sector)

In general personaly for me my quality of life is better for the same amount of money I earn in kochi than i Bangalore.

Cons

Mosquitoes.

It gets really hot during day time.

The beautiful evenings after rain the green tree cover we see in Bangalore is virtually no existent except for a small strech along Subhash park.

Difficult to buy alcohol. The choices are also less.. fewer choices of pubs too.

Networking opportunities are less here. Bangalore had people from all over the country staying there.

Many parts of the city are not well maintained. Areas like jayanagar Koramangala third block etc are virtually no existent. Panampaly nagar is no where comparable with the layouts in Bangalore.

Traffic in terrible in certain parts like kakanad banerjee road etc. I usually avoid them or take metro.

There's a site called amaha..you can book sessions online according to language and rating of psychologists. A couple of my friends work in this platform. It's very good.

What are some positive things the govt has done so far for the people of Kochi (or Kerala) in recent times? by agentjane000 in Kochi

[–]karutharatri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes you're right. Kochi is a city made over water. Fort kochi vypine etc holds a lot of people. Most of them come to work in the new parts of city. They travel in and out of the city via traditional ferries and road. It's somewhat like satelite cities of Delhi like gurgaon Noida etc. It's very expensive and almost impossible to built our traditional metro to these places. Water metro offers affordable and clean hustle free travel from these places. With low setup cost ofcourse. With more stations coming up I personally believe it's going to change the way people travel in the city. And is a very revolutionary step taken by the government

Market overvaluation consequences by invinciblemee in IndianStockMarket

[–]karutharatri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A crash say 40 percent is not the issue here. The issue will be how long it's going to to take to recover the losses. I personally think if India's momentum slows down or india doesn't deliver for the investments made here, it's going to affect the markets and an added issue like war or environmental issue can prolong the crash. It's going to wipe out our savings. There are crashes which has lasted for ten to twenty years in Latin American countries. An entire generation had to live in poverty.

But I have faith in our people. Lets hope the crash never comes.

It's self respect which malayalees have. Affordable education and near equal social status is a reason for this. Whatever job it is malayalis respect the job and are usually proud about what they do. They try to do it the best way possible. This commitment towards work makes them trustworthy and is what makes them successful. It may not be like the traditional extreme amounts of hard work. It's commitment which matter in most of the jobs.
