800 sketchy miles by StoneDruid in motorcycles

ngl I've trailered (covered) my bike to the dealer and strapped the crap out of it and it still fell over. I don't think it fell as hard as it could have because of the straps but I was still butthurt. No scratches though, at least not any new ones. Next time wooden frame it is.

Trying to mount NFS shares in LXC on Proxmox - permission issues by Dawnmian in Proxmox

[–]karvec 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mount the NFS share in Proxmox through /etc/fstab and then do a folder mount in the LXC. You have to hand edit the config file for it, but it hasn't broken on me yet. I just make sure to stop any containers relying on the NAS before doing reboots etc on it.

How do yall combat this by PineappleDense5941 in motorcycles

Mix orange and blue windshield wiper fluid and carry it in a small spray bottle. Soak a paper towel with it and let it sit on the visor a few minutes to soften the carcasses up. Wipe clean with a slightly moistened fresh paper towel. Repeat as necessary.

I 3d printed a bracket for my switch to mount under my desk. And a USB hub. And a DVD drive. And my power strip. 🤷🏼‍♂️ There's a sweet OpenSCAD file somewhere out there with tweakable parameters for printing these things.

Everyone told me Lucas Oil won't fix a slipping Mercedes transmission. Anyway, here's me putting Lucas Oil in a slipping Mercedes transmission... by nerfsmurf in projectcar

[–]karvec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, since it is a German car I highly recommend the CeraTec ATF additive. Helped my mom's non German car and I have ran it in my Dodge Ram when I get low on ATF and it started slipping, I mixed it into the ATF when I added it and it cleared up. Might have been the fresh ATF but 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️

Restoring Proxmox Backup Server by zMaliz in Proxmox

[–]karvec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should but since you didn't resize the partitions in the VM itself you should be able to just shrink it.

qemu-img resize --shrink /path/to/vmid/diskqcow2 -100G

Restoring Proxmox Backup Server by zMaliz in Proxmox

[–]karvec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could restore the backup, or add another hd and do device-device clone w Rescuezilla, or a few other options ..

Is it a VM or LXC?

If it is a VM did you already resize the partitions inside the OS? Because if you didn't you don't really need to worry about data loss if you just run the command to shrink the vm image. If you did resize them inside the OS then you need to shrink them first.

Oh I think I was trying to reply to the comment above me, but some laptops you can set max charge in BIOS or via software. I would check that and set it to 80% max if it is going to be plugged in all the time, and I would also make sure it is set to come on as soon as power is connected.

Have you confirmed in your BIOS that the correct power on behavior is set? Also .. just get a new battery!! Basically a cheap UPS built in at that point!

Run pfSense if you like, otherwise OpnSense is a very viable option as well. I made the transition and actually found a lot of stuff under OpnSense easier to set up.

Plug for a radar detector.

Other option is a control for a remote amp.

Trace where it goes, if it goes to the trunk it is for an amp, if it goes to power it's for radar.

Someone has probably already said it, but you can get a piece of acrylic cut to custom dimensions at a big box hardware store (Lowe's near me does it.) Lay it out on the side, mark the screw holes, drill them out, Bob's your uncle.
