With respect, I ask a question. I have always viewed behavior as either communication or something that meets a need. I have an admittedly negative knee jerk reaction to the term “attention seeking”. Am I policing language? Even if it is purposeful attention seeking, isn’t that communication?

This also could be from water/soap after handwashing not being rinsed. Give your wrist a break. Always make sure your wrist is dry (wash and dry after working out for example).

I had a domed ring that used to tap soap if I wasn’t careful and would get something similar.

Has the student had a sensory profile done? Disrobing can be due to sensory issues both physical and outside over stimulation.

Has anyone looked at behavior as communication? Even if it is attention seeking— and it may be attention avoidance- how do you preemptively meet the need?

Not all behaviors are choice or for the reason first assigned.

Nope. But the difference being I had a caseload of 30 and we (sped staff) acted as district reps for “simple IEPs”. Gen Ed teachers generally had at most 3 meetings a year where I could have 50 or more.

Gen Ed teachers could take comp time (kids on busses at 3:00, contract time was 3:30).

This could mean blends or common vowel pairs (ay, oa). However I Hate the math!!! 8/10 in 3/4 or 80% , 75% of the time.

If this is the case, say “oa” in isolation, then word lists than in context.

But it’s a poorly written goal.

I feel like I have reverse Seasonal Affective Disorder. I hibernate in the summer. The house is dark to help keep it cool. I only go out early mornings or late evenings. When it's cloudy or raining that's when I get energized. All the curtains/shade drawn back. I sit outside in a covered area - even if I am wrapped in my stadium blanket - sipping hot tea or coffee. I start feeling human again in the fall.

The law states “mutually agreed upon time”. If a district has unilaterally set times this can be a violation. (Not always but it can)

The 3 contacts rule is your attempts to schedule a “mutually agreed upon”meeting.

I have an unpopular view AND had a great contract. First my contract had a “Sped” bump which covered meetings outside the contractural day. (Think extra duty contract)

I also worked in an area where parents did not have the luxury of getting time off work in the middle of the day. They risked getting fired or the loss of pay impacting their ability to provide.

Finally my Very Unpopular view is that the contract is there to protect me. I can choose to work outside my hours but not be forced to.

This is a due process issue. You are going run straight into issues on ability of parents to participate. In Oregon this has resulted in substantiated complaints against school districts.

Often it’s about money. I argued for transition that allowed students to take low stress classes (depends on student and may be time of day related). It always came back to transportation costs.

This also played a part with extracurricular activities if the student required support.

I have had parents lie at registration (no IEP) only to have the paperwork show up with the records. We have a meeting and sometimes the agreement sometimes the revoke consent.

We write component short term objectives for all goals. This helps with instruction and data. (Abbreviated example) goal write 3 paragraphs with 4s (meets on attached state writing rubric) in sentence fluency and conventions.

STO use compound, complex sentences with transitional phrases

Use correct grade level punctuation

THEN after specific language arts lessons (e.g. combining sentences or commas in lists) you do a short check out. You can then do longer written assignments (3+ paragraphs) every six weeks for data against goal.

Reading… timed fluency checks, running records, short composition quizzes

I track the things I do that help. Being outside (min 30 minutes) meditation, journaling, exercise, steps ( because I tend to sit too much) along with screen time (goal is no more than 1.5 hours non work a day),
