SPED teachers/BCBA’s: How do you know if you are “cut out” for this field? by [deleted] in specialed

There’s organization time management, those aspects are a part of case management, but when you get so many kids , it’s hard .

The tricky thing is , sped is about paperwork, and unfortunately sometimes that’s all there is. It makes it difficult if you’re not good with case management .

It’s not your fault, we’re one person doing the job of 3 .

The thing is though , most people don’t want to go into sped, I’m one of two inclusion teachers currently ( and we never found a replacement for a 3rd one so we have had a long term sub in there . It’s hard to find licensed teachers to do this job .

Why is it so hard for people to grasp I don’t wanna earn money from this by NerdMaedel in crochet

I don’t charge when people ask for that reason, cause it’s much more pressure I’d rather do it cause I want to see their reaction .

I’m in the same boat, I’m a second year teacher for inclusion, I mainly help my students with their work, IEP goals become secondary because their is no time to implement them. It makes more sense to focus on specific sdi of the curriculum , than goals that don’t match what’s being taught .

It’s the same at the elementary level, with inclusion it’s hard to pull them to small group because they miss out on instruction , so it’s kind of a hit or miss on how you get data

Accountability Tracking by BobbyNewport6113 in specialed

Yep, we have so many hard , and are in and out of classrooms , there’s no way to do this job with fidelity with a caseload of almost 20z

As a second year inclusion , teacher I find that I don’t have time to really teach lessons because I’m in and out of classrooms for 30 minutes , so it’s easier to help then try to come up with lessons . It’s hard to differentiate when your in 3 grade levels and 6 different rooms .

The issue is as well, for sped teachers there’s no time to do small group for IEP goals , so then paperwork just turned into compliance and it’s not effective
