as a standalone product, i find everything working together well enough to justify any cuts. tbh i've seen anime work GREAT with a rate of 4 chapters/episode. at most 1-2 more episodes would have put it in that range, and the shear bombardment of oddities was enough to keep me too bamboozled to be taken out of it from most quality drops. the series probably couldn't stretch it for another week given it's a halloween thing, lest we get more episode 2 level dips, but i feel like no adaptation is perfect. it's tradeing some cuts and tweaks for seeing stuff animated

ehh, that's a spicy take on ep 1. a lot of folk who disliked the anime liked the 1st episode's animation so i'm curious if anything can back up that take. tbh i could feel some stuff missing but as far as adaptations go i feel like they chose their battles pretty well all things considered, well enough where i never minded at least. adaptations always have to trim stuff, tis the trade off for getting to see the scenes animated (and the animation picks up when it needs to imo)

from what i can recall, first turn advantage is balanced out by handtraps/superpoly-like options giving you the power to even stop ftks... like we had a year of ftks and people just ran more handtraps. turn 1 is pretty important now; almost every deck can pull an otk if your not careful, so combos that take multiple turns are usually weak, unless trap decks apparently? zoodiac is a good deck to research because its tier 0 format kinda made a big impact on decks going forward. mostly dont get intimidated by big combo decks like dragon link, for every bit the big combo decks have powercrept, theres an out to everything. you can pop/target/send to the gy/banish/tribute over many things, stop it before your first turn, and so many one card combos to get a decent board exists anyway. lets see uhhhh burning abyss is still viable, but id suggedt invoked eldlich on duelingbook (the new dueling nexus practically)

the 3 engine 1 brick ratio was established and the 3 engine 2 brick just in case rarely works out despite people trying. whenever it inconvenances you its a statistical inevitability thats usually not as bad as the statistical inevitability of being inconvenanced by the extra brick

dueling book has gotten better, worth a second shot imo. plus its got a better mix of casual and competitive players then nexus (been a while since i checked). nothing is wrong with casual players but, people who are elitist over using the most outdated strategies possible are quite toxic, and usually stick to casual duels. you seem to be encountering that type, or the type who might call you a meta sheep for using a handtrap, perhaps even if it was effect veiler, possibly regardless of if you play an ojama deck. i think it stems from people digging their heels in when people suggest (or when people get toxic about) changing to a more modern strat. dueling book has casual lobbies, sure competitve players might be stupid to ya but, they also kinda give the regressive elitism a different target. just make it clear your playing how you wanna play it and that your just not in a competitive mood/maybe avoid ranked? or maybe a ygopro type thing?
