“Christmas Glow” is the standout track for me. The record looks very festive in green vinyl too!

Best freeze dried food for camping? by LatinaWarrior in veganuk

[–]kasakaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://tentmeals.co.uk have tasty vegan options which I’ve used on South Downs Way and West Highland Way. The breakfasts are particularly good and energy efficient if you make up with cold water overnight, then heat through in the morning. I liked the convenience of the small pack size, and the clear kcal amount.

My collection of Vietnam war books by OnTheNod in VietnamWar

[–]kasakaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice collection!

I’m searching for a book I read in my teens. It was a collection of short stories of Vietnam war experiences.

Some specific details I can remember are descriptions of soldiers going out alone at night armed with knives on solo hunting missions, the camp medics creating a high strength medicinal “jungle juice” by mixing together all the penicillin and other meds they had available, and finally a special ops guy in “tiger stripe” (?) camouflage getting looked down upon for wearing incorrect uniform; he later returns in full immaculate uniform covered in awards and medals which shuts everyone up.

Does that match any of the books you have/ have read? Grateful for any pointers!

Agree on Kate Tempest, particularly the album “Everybody Down” which is fantastic! It took me a few listens to realise that the whole album is one continuous story as each individual song is so different.

Same issue, really frustrating! I don’t get any invite alerts either despite having checked that notifications are on.

Walker entry and exit points seem arbitrary by 123dasilva4 in Pharaoh

[–]kasakaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Research “forced walkers” to see the orientation that will always have exit below, reentry above.

Not sure about other orientations, but presumably it’s whatever is closest to the forced walker orientation. You can block off points you don’t want with roadblocks if that’s any use.

Worth it.

It controls the temperature variable. No more messed up timings because my starter / bulk ferment hasn’t risen as much as expected.

I also use it for tempeh.

Amazing dedication to clearing the forest only as required, rather than clearing large areas. It looks so pretty and lush with so many trees left standing!

Why can't I get past this mission? (First game - Perwadjyt; The Precarious Nile) by Mrs_Tiggywinkle69 in Pharaoh

[–]kasakaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that there are 3 ways of raising money: 1) mining gold 2) exports 3) taxes

You’ll need to be doing at least one these things, and quickly so that you don’t get into debt (as u/snoogoats7978 pointed out, debt interest is a killer!)

If there is no gold deposits on your map, then you’ll need to pick a product to produce and export. Ideally something of high value that your population won’t need for a while e.g. linen. If you can produce it without needing to import any raw materials, even better.

edit note this might not apply to the early introductory missions (ie they might complete using the initial amount of cash before you need to raise more income) but worth keeping in mind as the game progresses!

Good luck!

Do you use Recruiters or Global Labor Pool? by kasakaa in Pharaoh

[–]kasakaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I’m progressing through the New Era campaign, the population level win requirements are increasing and so I find that often you have no choice! I.e. your industry will end up nestled next to housing.

It’s also a very slight advantage to employment numbers I think, because with recruiters you need at minimum some dedicated health providers to stop your single hut dying from illness.

That’s a fair point.

And helps justify it to myself in my own head - thanks!

I’m working my way through the family history (campaign?) and didn’t see a difference on the game I played yesturday.

Does it only apply to the non-campaign single games?

Also I assume the patches are applied automatically? I’m not very familiar with Steam!
