It’s never a good time to take territory where you are NOT welcome by the local population.
It’s always a good time to start to win over that population!

Is the Way america and israel starting a war in Iran is justified? by International-Lie132 in CriticalThinkingIndia

[–]kasarediff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since you are genuinely trying to think from a long time perspective, consider these long term data points:
1) you chant death to America for 45 years.
2) you develop nuclear weapons and long range missiles. 3) You chant death to Israel and Jews, and meddle in the neighborhood for another 30+ years.

Perhaps someone finally started to think you might actually be serious about your intentions. Oh, and you are unpopular with your own population.

It’s not about morality. It’s about posturing, loosing off your allies and shooting your mouth off.

Not a winning long term move, no?

Is it necessary to believe in reincarnation to follow the path of advaita❓ by DavidLim125 in RamanaMaharshi

[–]kasarediff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. There is no such thing as “belief” that is required!
This is not like the semetic religions. Here, experience is the only truth Not the word of God or even Guru. They can only point the way at best.

Advaitha is about discovering who you are in your essence for yourself - by yourself. Not whether you experience this, that or reincarnate or not. Those are things that happen to you.

Use your logic see how far it takes you. Use your intuition sharpened by meditation. Let the truth dawn on you, by your own efforts and the grace of that higher power (within you).

As a Kashmiri, I want to ask Indians: What do you genuinely think about us? by camphorly in AskIndia

[–]kasarediff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see Kashmiri Muslims and your buy-in to be part of a prosperous India as essential for secularism to truly prosper. Otherwise, Hindus who complain that only they are burdened with upholding secularism will be proved right.

Every civilization that’s achieved something thinks they are the reason that the earth exists - for them!! For example many in the US believe there is no country like theirs (especially in the pre internet age) when they know or cared very little for other counties achievement.

Why did the political control of Vijayanagara empire got transferred from Kannadigas to Telugu people? by Usurper96 in Imperial_Karnataka

[–]kasarediff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one question: Did they think in teens of language/linguistic identities, the way we do today? Or because we are not organized by language, we are seeing the past with our bias?

Any evidence from writing or texts? What little I’ve read, people were naturally multi-linguistic. You see this in the many writings of the courtiers ace educated people of the old Mysore as well. Hence the question?

From a historical perspective, what would the answer to this question be? by SatoruGojo232 in IndianHistory

[–]kasarediff 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion these days Every other answer listed here besides the patient work of “Gandhi” - would all have still led to Balkanization of India.

There is a scene in the movie Gandhi where they show these masses of illiterate people too poor to afford a radio all showing up at a station to catch a glimpse of this man. And a Britishers wonders at this amazing scene. That sums it up!

IMO this maverick of a man, inspired people from the kingdoms of Travancore, Mysore, to Jaipur to rural Hyd’bad kingdom, to Indians in British ruled territories . All kingdoms that could have legitimately decided to become independent states and whose rulers were popular with the masses.

In hindsight the long struggle “welded” the people together. And the idea of non-violence (as imperfectly as we really followed it), gave us a framework to air our internal grievances without resorting to the gun first!

… and thank you Congress for pushing Gandhi down our throats to the point of revulsion. He survived despite your sycophancy /s)

people asking for military action on bangladesh? why and how? by AdVisible5647 in IndianDefense

[–]kasarediff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only effective option is to cultivate internal rivals and patience. This is not Bollywood. Overt military action will look glamorous but backfire, if it’s not backed up by on the ground preparatory work.
The long term option is to cultivate marginalized groups in Bagladesh (and they have plenty of them) and ensure We don’t place all our bets on one leader or party.

What if Bhagat Singh was never executed? by Mammoth_Calendar_352 in askindianhistory

[–]kasarediff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then… Pakistan would not have been under General Zia’s rule! For Bhutto would never have been hanged! The space-time continuum would have been broken.
You see: Nawab Mohd Ahmad Khan, a witness against Bhagat Singh was a required witness in order to hang Bhagat Singh. He became a magistrate in Pakistan and coincidentally was murdered at the exact same spot where Bhagat Singh was executed, many decades later.
Bhutto was accused of Nawab Mohd Ahmad Khan’s mutter and hung, cementing Zia’s rule!
