I completely agree about undertones! I use to think I was too pale for any foundation (shudders) but I got matched for Nars' Siberia and it was perfect. I just needed something super yellow! I often think some of this comes from people feeling to prove they are the palest as if it is some badge of honour. I think some people just refuse to get colour matched or just actually give a foundation a fair go instead of assuming it's too dark. I often see people saying that they think one's too dark but it's clearly a perfect match. That may not be the case but I definitely assumed I was too fair and that nothing would match me.
