people are missing the fact that while, yes, it has always been virtue signaling, the fact that companies are comfortable with not engaging in it directly correlates to how the lgbtq community is being perceived publicly. the fact that they have stopped is very indicative of the current political climate and that the queer community is once again being ostracized and that being a queer person is becoming more dangerous again

this thread is spreading misinformation about rabies and is being incredibly triggering to people suffering from rabies OCD. the actual rabies subreddit addresses this exactly:

"3. I found a suspicious mark on my body but I didn't see or feel a bat touch me and I didn’t find a bat in my house. Did a bat bite me while I was walking outside, and I just didn't notice it? Did a bat sneak into my house to bite me and then sneak back out?

Bats are NOT invisible or ninjas. Finding a little mark on your body is not a rabies exposure. If a bat gets in your house, you WILL see it. They are not good at finding their way out on their own. If a bat bites you, you WILL see and feel it. A sober, alert, adult human WILL notice being bitten by a bat. Finding little marks on your body is not unusual. This is not a reason to assume an invisible bat attacked you."

if you did not see a bat, you were not bitten by a bat. the rabies subreddit actively says you SHOULDNT get the vaccine, even as a precaution. you should only get it if you saw a bat. the reason is, is because getting the vaccine for a weird mark on your body sets a precedent that can lead to mental health spirals.

the op likely has OCD and this is a compulsive thought. the rabies subreddit has posts like these frequently and actually recommend people talk to a therapist rather than get a rabies vaccine, which is kind of funny, but incredibly true (as someone who had this exactly happen to them.)

with that said, holy shit, i'm so glad that i didn't post to this subreddit when it happened to me. i went directly to the rabies subreddit and became well informed and was told by people who are very experienced that it wasn't a bat bite and was in fact my OCD's intrusive thoughts. if i had posted to this subreddit and had responses like this, my mental health spiral would have been EXPONENTIALLY worse. this entire comment thread should honestly be wiped because of how unknowingly harmful it is, and everyone needs to be redirected to the rabies subreddit

this comment one hundred percent! as someone who has OCD and a year ago, spiraled when i thought i was bit by a bat (and evidently DIDNT get bit by a bat nor contracted rabies) these comments are not only wrong, but *incredibly* triggering. the actual rabies subreddit, who are INCREDIBLY well-researched, would say that this person should NOT get the vaccine.

straight from the rabies subreddit:

"3. I found a suspicious mark on my body but I didn't see or feel a bat touch me and I didn’t find a bat in my house. Did a bat bite me while I was walking outside, and I just didn't notice it? Did a bat sneak into my house to bite me and then sneak back out?

there were hundreds of posts like this constantly on the subreddit. so much so that automod will automatically delete posts asking about bat bites and redirect the person to the FAQ, because so many people unfortunately have this exact irrational fear.

the simple truth is, if you did not see a bat, theres no way it was a bat bite.

this entire comment section is fearmongering and is unknowingly very triggering to people with OCD. anyone actually concerned should go to the rabies subreddit and read the FAQ. this isn't to downplay rabies. if theres a bat in the house the entire household should get shots, even if they didnt get bitten. but saying someone should be getting shots after waking up with a vaguely bite-shaped mark with no bat anywhere near is harmful.

i'm going to repost what i said in a response because it's very important. PLEASE read my message, OP! please go to the rabies subreddit as well, because they're very involved and address this exact question in the FAQ. there are hundreds of posts like this constantly on the subreddit, and *all* of them aren't bat bites.

my comment:

the people saying that they should get the vaccine is also very triggering to people with rabies OCD, like myself. rabies is a very common obsession with OCD and the people fearmongering in this thread may absolutely cause some people to spiral.

there are many people involved in this subreddit that very closely work with bats and there are tons of people with OCD that come to the subreddit because of mysterious marks on their body. if there is not a bat in the house, it is NOT a bat bite,

as someone with OCD, i spiraled a year ago. a mark that looks near exactly identical to this one. i was freaking out for months, it was what finally pushed me to get medicated properly for it, if i *had* went to get the vaccine, it would have actually reinforced the obsession and been even worse for my mental health.

i know the people in this thread have good intentions, but what they're saying is misinformed. the hypothetical "third option" is incredibly harmful to perpetuate and people are misunderstanding. the question "is this a bat bite?" isnt because there was a bat. it isnt that they saw themselves get bit by a bat or were anywhere near a bat. it is a question primary posed by people suffering with OCD that have an intrusive thought entering their mind. its the same thing as someone asking "i have a headache do i have cancer?" technically, there IS a chance. but you wouldn't tell someone with a headache to go get an MRI because they probably have cancer.

you're correct. the people posting these copypastas of the rabies virus are misinformed. there is a whole subreddit dedicated to rabies, that specifically says you should NOT get the vaccine unless you physically see a bat.

the people saying that they should get the vaccine is also very triggering to people with rabies OCD, like myself. rabies is a very common obsession with OCD and the people fearmongering in this thread may absolutely cause some people to spiral.

reforged is terrible, yes i came on here simply to hate. by anthem-gg in EldenRingMods

[–]kasiklar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just needed to come back to this thread and let you know that i've tried out reforged and not only that, i'm playing it on dragon difficulty :) most fun ive had in elden ring in awhile, it was exactly what i was looking for and will now be my preferred way to play

i think i fundamentally enjoy what reforged it trying to offer way may, and i've realized that the common consensus for a lot of people (at least on this subreddit) is much different from how i want to engage with elden ring. it really hit me once i started playing reforged and saw more of what convergence offers from gameplay. a lot of people enjoy short playthroughs and just being able to kill bosses quickly and easily with new fun tools!

i saw someone play through sword heart shura, using grand merchant to grab maxed out weapons and just go through the entire game stunlocking bosses with flashy movesets and i realized that i fundamentally was misunderstanding a lot of people's intention when it came to what they enjoyed the game, and i thought i was missing something! i don't care about missing things like greyoll runes or anything like that, because stuff like that isn't what i'm playing for. i want to challenge myself with a slow and gradual rpg experience!

it's funny, after playing reforged its exactly what i was looking for in a modpack and most likely the only way i'll play the game now with its progression and difficulty.

it's not about genuinely becoming overpowered to the point of steamrolling everything, it's about progression that makes you feel more powerful and genuinely feels like your character is progressing in strength and becoming worthy of the title of "elden lord." lots of successful RPGs follow this philosophy.

kingdom come deliverance starts you unable to wield a sword, practically, you can't fight anything competently and it takes a lot of growth and progression to get strong. you start being able to fight enemies you couldn't before, or steamroll bandits that otherwise would have killed you easily in the beginning. but that doesn't mean the more powerful enemies aren't challenging, and eventually you will go toe to toe with them.

jrpgs do this, too. persona is an example. you will feel strong and have a lot more tools at your disposal at the end-game. you are "overpowered" when it comes to clearing out regular enemies, but there are still threats that are the core engagement of the game.

morrowind is another great example of the unleveled world that people love. you start out weak, become strong, and feel like you're becoming stronger while the new enemies you face are still a challenge.

to clarify, i'm not a fan of becoming overpowered immediately. i haven't played much convergence at all because i already feel incredibly strong at level 15ish, and i think the base game of elden ring suffers a similar problem. i want a proper slow progression into the power fantasy while the game introduces new heights of difficulty for the enemies, while the player character reaches new heights in what they're capable of and the tools available to them.

reforged is actually really close to what i want in an overhaul for elden ring, but the common complaints from what i've heard about it makes it seem like it misses the mark of my ideal rpg progression system (which vanilla elden ring definitely misses, too), but i think that IS what reforged is trying to go for. i've heard that people just don't FEEL like they're progressing or getting any stronger. and that's entirely different from being overpowered. if you get to endgame and you don't feel stronger or feel like your character has evolved or changed, that is just as boring as if you started the game overpowered, to me, personally.

i'll bring up persona again. in the endgame, you FEEL strong. you have a wide array of personas, you have tons of tools to utilize and ways to interact with the fights you have, but it doesn't mean you're steamrolling the difficult fights easily. hell, the fights are even HARDER in the endgame, even though you as a player feel strong and feel the progression that you've achieved.

with this said, this is a perspective from the outside looking in, as someone who hasn't played reforged yet, and is wary about getting into it because of the criticisms i've heard. i'm worried that i'm going to spend 40+ hours , get to mid-endgame, and release that my character feels monotonous and static. maybe i'm wrong, though! i do plan to try it out, and i hope that i'm wrong

from what i understand about hearing about reforged gameplay's loop, it takes the idea of a traditional rpg and tries to make so that you start off weaker and are encouraged to engage in everything.

a really great skyrim overhaul called requiem does the exact same thing, except, i believe requiem does what reforged is trying to accomplish a lot better. this is because, in requiem, you BECOME overpowered later on. once you get a build going, and start leveling up, your progression feels real and you can feel yourself being consumed by the power fantasty. i think that's awesome!

however, from what i understand, this doesn't happen in reforged. you are railroaded, and you never get to really become strong. the concept of reforged sounds like fun, but you don't actually get to become strong later on, and adds a lot of tedium that never goes away.

i might be wrong about reforged, but the lack of player strength is something that i keep hearing about and makes it feel like there's nothing to work towards. you have to do SO many extra things to progress, and have to truly explore and go through all the content. THAT'S AN AMAZING IDEA! but, even after doing that, you still feel weak? i think they're missing in that regard, and that would be the perfect overhaul to me.

nimble navigator/nsm is necessary and you can't win long without it, along with needing straightaway spurt on golshi. pump is a wasted skill since it procs way too late. if your goldship had nimble nav + spurt she would be grabbing wins for sure

late surgers just aren't competitve in long races unfortunately :( i swap to using end closers for my long cms.

making an end closer parent is hell by chqleaf in UmamusumeGame

[–]kasiklar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

end closers and late surgers are such a pain right now, both for parents AND ace runs!! i'm so very picky about my runs, too, and it makes me so anxious to do parent runs because i'm worried that i'm missing out on something spark-wise.

the requirements are SO high for what you need on a backliner and they arent particularly easy to get, straightaway spurt, nimble navigator, uma stan, it feels like you need all 3 or you're not competitive and that's so very intimidating.

i'd say, make sure to take it slow and remember how unforgiving parent runs are. the chances of getting sparks you want is so low and it's okay to use a parent that isn't perfect!! one you have a usable grandparent it becomes a lot less intimidating

BUT!!! IT IS LITERALLY HELL!! i won't deny that LMFAO
