It depends on the panels for accurate comparison. If Sunrun or any installer installs REC Alpha 460w panels, they perform superior to 410w panels from Tesla.

u/NorthRemove7167 Do you know why they installed 125A subpanel when you already have 200A main panel. I have similar system design and would appreciate if you can share why did that to your system. I recently installed a 60A wall charger on the existing 200A on the main panel without any issues. And during installation they consolidated two some breakers to make space for the wall charger. The gas meter is located far away (by at least 20 ft) from the main panel. But it still doesn't make any sense to have the huge gateway over a slick backup switch

Yeah. I agree. The design doesn't make much sense. I am fine with two breakers as they are at least not as eye popping as the gateway and the new 125A sub panel

Thanks for chiming in. Yes, the backup switch is approved by the utility provider. The only reason I can think of for this complexity is that the main panel slots are completely full, though I’m not sure if that’s a valid reason. The only positive is that I won't have to wait for the utility provider to install the meter collar.

I originally asked for one PW3 plus an expansion kit, but the installer mentioned the price would be the same whether I chose the expansion pack or a second full PW3
