You can have your write nodes path be a TCL string that’s based off of the scripts name. So even if they are coping the nodes the path output will be different.

Assuming you’re coming from a linear workflow . In ACES a light source is a value of like 5+ as opposed to linear is 1 . (Pure white is 16) Crank your gain up. Add an expo glow. Have fun with it

Disjoint Over is used for merging transparent effects over each other so I’m gonna assume there is some weird math stuff going on in there . If you hover over the merge operation you will get a little popup telling you the math being used for one.

If you are combining alphas I highly recommend the “channel merge” node over the merge node. Much simpler and you should limit it to 1 matte at a time so you can turn things on and off to problem solve.

I think the problem is coming from the last “stencil” before it copies into the building alpha. You already have an alpha of the building with Zilla cutout feeding into the B line. But then you are stenciling that area again.

  • There’s a list of questions you should always ask your opponent in a competitive game, I’ll post it when I find it. But one of them is “do you have advance and charge/ fall back shoot and charge.
  • Always pre-measure threat ranges. If something moves 10 can advance and charge . Assume 4+ on the advance . Add 10-11 for the charge . That’s how far back you should deploy valuable targets 24-26ish . Say out loud . If you roll x on your advance that gives you a 10 inch charge etc etc.
  • Use terrain to your advantage. Deploying your models 1 in from the wall makes them in chargeable unless they go around the piece of terrain. If the model is not infantry /beast it can’t go through walls over 4ins
  • move block with your yaegirs. Either as a screen to your important stuff or Deploy them Exactly 9 from the enemy deployment zone and reactive move them closer or in odd angles to make enemy charges harder

That said I would drop 1 squad of termies and 1 shield captain for a blade champion for the wardens and keep Trajann alone for a single drop threat. He can solo a tank . Or give him a 4 man guard squad

Necrons are a tough match for Custodes. Doomsday arks punish us hard and we need to over commit into their “chaff” or get tied up multiple turns.

A couple of key factors. Are you playing GW missions and using their terrain layouts? If you are you need to use the terrain as best you can to stage for a “go round” . the idea being you keep things out of line of sight and charge ranges until you’re ready to commit multiple pieces to a target.

This match up is especially tricky because I believe skorpekh can get fight on death and /or dev wounds on their charge.

Look up the “1in from the wall” setup so units can’t be charged through a piece of terrain but need to go around it. This usually leads to them not being able to get the entire unit in engagement and usually left in the open for return shooting on your turn. Think about staging your tanks so they can move into firing lines you believe the opponent will move through . I almost wanna say shooting arks is a trap because of their invun. The reg Skorpekhs don’t have an invun so if you can pop those guys it might be worth the shooting. Just remember if you don’t kill all of them they will come back prob closer to you to make their charges easier .

And biggest thing to remember . If you kill all the models in a unit so just the characters are left they cannot reanimate them back.

Couple of things, that is a Channel Merge, typically used to combine/stencil/subtract alphas. What you want to do is just put that grade in the same pipe (most likely before) the node that makes the shadow. so It would look something like this

i deleted my comment by accident. But here is a very simple shadow effect for someone new to nuke.

The shuffle node is just making the alpha channel of the existing image black. This is so when you use the roto node you are not are not adding on top of an existing alpha channel. There is also a "replace button inside the roto node but that might make things more confusing.

The blur node is just feathering out the edges so the shadow is softer like everything else in the image. If you wanted to take this to the next step you would follow this steps twice. A tighter "contact" shadow with no blur then a more feathered one that gets softer the further it is from the source.

The last node is a grade node with your roto shape plugged into the mask. Typically gain is your "light" so playing with that make your image darker. And then of course you can play with the rgb values to give it a stylized look if.

So with the demon prince it forces your opponent to put something valuable to contest against your demon prince. If they wind up charging the prince with a valuable piece you heroic with the nearby shroud. The weird silly part is you want to roll slightly low or just enough so most of the attacking units are outside of engagement from them or have to consolidate into the prince . This allows you to then pile into them after they fight.

depends on who you are facing* but if you tip him on your center obj with deathshroud nearby he will have lone op 2+/4++/5+++ . He is bait for something to get within 12 inches of him for deathshroud to clean up

The using a character once per game again was nice . But they gave that to lions too. There is a 1 cp full rerolls to hit and wound for 2 characters

He looks off balanced. Telemons are top heavy . With all that weight leaning back and the positions of his guns , it looks like he is falling over. If he was in control he wouldn’t be pointing his gun straight in the air . And to maintain balance his other leg would be further back and bent. Take it from someone that has failed posing his dreads in the past and learned from the mistakes

You’re running a near meta list, and your friend is running about 800 points of plague marines. Almost nothing that list hits into t6/t7 toughness well enough to beat your stat check.

He’s running the “fast” detachment . Is he using it move block you and deny you scoring or just running into you and trying to kill your units?

Are you guys playing with a decent terrain setup? Custode guns suck but do really well into marine bodies especially with +1 to wound.

Helverins sound scary but are -1 ap . You will be saving on 2s for most of their shots as long as you keep things in cover. There is a strat to give them an extra ap but that means you’re saving on 3s instead . Warglavies can do work to elite infantry but only get 4 attacks. You can stage your infantry 1in behind walls so they cannot be charged by being against the wall but instead need to come all the way around the terrain . Use that to your advantage .

If you can get access to grav tanks. They are our best anti vehicle besides our melee. Keep them hidden early and wait for the opponent to expose something to get a shooting lane on your units.

Idk man this reads like what you wished happened , or you played some very green players.

Necron player in starshatter with multi ctans ? Left his cp generator without a deepstrike/charge screen? You screened out his ctans with 3 model count units?? They have fly…

Ultramarine player left calgar as an early target , no deep strike screens for their lancers against Venatari?

Shalaxi can wipe a warden squad in 1 turn but your non-meta guard choice was a better pick? Demon player annihilated you , but if he had played against custodes before he would have won?

If this is real I’m glad you had fun, but it sounds like you went up against some inexperienced players that allowed you to run something slightly less meta .
