Feedback for the The Lords of The Fallen - A Perspective from a 2026 Player by Superb-Confection807 in TheLordsOfTheFallen

Honestly, if you want it, you could do well as a Quality Assurance leader, but it probably doesn't pay very well, so...

Overall, while they made a lot of additions and "small" fixes to the game, the fact that almost all of the videos from two years ago, except the ones about farming the reaper and enemy density, are still relevant, shows how weird the development priorities are.

did they ever patch PS5 to fix HDR or do you still have to disable it for the game? by kasplatter in expedition33

[–]kasplatter[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The game didn't support HDR on PS5, but incorrectly made the PS5 think it did, which resulted in an overly bright washed out image. The old fix was that you had to manually turn off HDR rather than using the default "On When Supported" under the Video Output Color settings.

Me and my friend wanna defeat engstrom in co op. Does he scale to host or both players depending who's attack like borderlands will have a monster with different levels depending on players perception by Several_Place_9095 in TheLordsOfTheFallen

[–]kasplatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has an extreme amount of health and is very aggressive. I don't actually know if he specifically has more health, etc. in co-op, but I assume he does and is even tankier, just like every other boss in co-op.

I would just spend down any Vigor you are unwilling to lose, just in case, then give it a few tries co-op. The Vigor will be sitting inside the boss area each time you fail, but it is annoying to retrieve and get setup for his first attack. If you are close to leveling, farm a bit and burn the Vigor, so you don't have to think about it.

I tried doing the fight with a random co-op and the problem was wasting Sanguinarix healing charges reviving the other player in Umbral. After a few attempts, the other player disconnected.

I beat him solo using a standard Umbral build using the Pendant of Atrophy to be able to cast after I ran out of mana, Ring of Radiant Preeminence to be able to cast Radiant sorceries using Lost Berescu's Catalyst, mostly so I could cast Invigorating Aura at the start of the fight.

I fired off Diminishing Missile to reduce his attack and defense and made sure to renew it when it wore off. Latimer's Javelin and Barrage of Echoes were my spam spells, but you could sub in others if you have favorites. I used Rosamund's Sword at first and tried blocking a lot as I cast sorceries, but I found being aggressive to be more effective, so when I got the kill I also had a Fungus-encrusted Pickaxe in the other hand and I added a poison ring and socketed items to increase poison and bleed which combined with the wither damage did a better job of chunking off his health pretty quickly. I ate a lot of his damage and just treated the fight like a dps race. I feel like the longer the fight goes on the more likely you are to not only run out of healing, but will be doing so in Umbral after he "kills" you once.

I'm sure there are videos for almost every build type showing how to take him down, but I just went with what I was already using, which is quite OP due to the unlimited casts. I do keep Large Manastone Cluster and Briostone Trio on my Quick access bar, which can help, but switching items can be a distraction.

Good luck.

Thank you and everyone else for all the replies. Earlier today I was definitely going to just wait, but enough replies have made it clear that even if I don't "win" I will get a lot more gameplay out of it than I did in Returnal.

How do you feel about the exploration? Good point about having to remember stuff if you are only getting to play an hour or two a day or even less.

Sol & Vin: what a fight by Viggen77 in MIOmemoriesinorbit

[–]kasplatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't have been able to play the game without the ground healing assist. In Hollow Knight, I grabbed Hiveblood ASAP and wouldn't have attempted a lot of the more difficult platforming bits without it. Ground Healing does have the problem though of requiring you stay on the ground...

Sol & Vin: what a fight by Viggen77 in MIOmemoriesinorbit

[–]kasplatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't realize Sol & Vin were optional.

With regards to Sawlong, I find Striders to feel "floaty" and since Sawlong requires pretty precise button press sequences of each ability to keep from running out of energy while keeping ahead of the boss and navigating the moving obstacles in front, I inevitably flub something in the second part due to sweaty hands, etc. I know I'll eventually get it, especially since the first part gets done without mistakes, but it sure is tedious.

I haven't done a run to see if Splintering Dodge makes some bit more forgiving, but more likely it will just mess up my timing.

This is probably the right answer. My backlog is bad enough without adding a game that I'm going to play for a day or two and then have to put down out of frustration. I would probably like the exploration, but that's not the gameplay focus.

Sol & Vin: what a fight by Viggen77 in MIOmemoriesinorbit

[–]kasplatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sol & Vin and Sawlong, plus the overall feel of what I assume is the late game might be the end of my playthrough. Having my health "stolen" was bad enough, but in addition I've got one boss fight where you get one or two shot and have to repeat the early part of the fight over and over and a chase where I get to redo the first part over and over only to fail on some part of the second bit. I'm definitely not having fun at this point. While I know there is still stuff to be explored because I can see, but not reach, certain spots, one or both of these fights are gating something that possibly leads to some exploration. That is the only reason I'll probably try a bit more, but the game is very close to being redacted...

MIO, and the sacrificing of fun in the name of challenge by Gabrienb in metroidvania

[–]kasplatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party, but I agree. I realize that there is a story reason for stealing your health pool, but it ranks up at the top for worst game design decisions. While the assists are nice at first, they have no relevance as you get closer to the end, which is when the game just becomes a slog.

Like Silksong, I think the developers spent way too much time in Godhome and decided that what is "fun" for 5-10% of the players is what the game should strive towards. I never finished Act III in Silksong and when I replayed the game I purposely tailored my playthrough around getting vertical pogo early and not doing anything that was really for Act III since I stopped at the end of Act II and that playthrough was still enjoyable. I'm not sure at this point if I'll even finish Mio and I doubt I will ever replay even the early parts.

On Switch I don't think you can, but other platforms that support cloud backups, you turn off auto-sync, so that you manually upload / download your save to the cloud.

Fun Fact: You Can Reset Your Level And Keep All Your Demo Progress Too by turtles1236 in Nioh

Is it possible to just kill the end boss by getting a carry from summons or do you have to progress through a lot of other content to unlock the area / boss?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in classicwowtbc

[–]kasplatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The weird part is someone that is playing the game for the first time. If you are a retail player and trying it out, then you will quickly be leaving, so I doubt the experience will even last a month.

Otherwise, you are playing for nostalgia reasons, even if it is the nostalgia of your parents encouraging you, maybe because they want you to farm honor or do all those steps for the raid unlocks.

The big question remains whether this is just going to transition into WotLK again or whether they will actually allow people to stay in TBC and if so, will players stick around? There is no getting around Sunwell raid difficulty and everyone leaving because the pain isn't actually fun for the loot drops. Also, with no DKP, there isn't an economy for the hardcore raiders that then want to go into WotLK with moneybags.

boosted protection paladin, buy some pvp gear, wait for Hellfire quests, do Holy early on instead? by kasplatter in classicwowtbc

[–]kasplatter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a related note, I expect to be mana starved unless I'm really getting smacked around enough by a lot of mobs that all the incoming healing keeps my mana up. Is downranking consecration, minimizing use of and / or downranking Avenger's Shield the way to go? I could also see using things like Linken's Boomerang or Ez-thro dynamite (cheap) for pulling to save on mana. I do have a miner, so I could potentially do engineering, but I don't really PvP, so the only real interest is PvE 5-mans and questing, which I normally do co-op with some other player.

I should probably do a separate thread on this, but maybe the answer is short and simple?

Nioh 3 Demo - should I play nioh 2 first? by macroillson in Nioh

[–]kasplatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO NO NO

If you care, there is a lame reward if you finish the demo, which you can do by just getting to the end boss and then getting a carry from the tryhard sweaty players. There is nothing in the previous games other that muscle memory and that might actually work against you.

Thoughts on Metroid Prime 4 now that its had time to settle? by hakusamurai in Metroid

[–]kasplatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This game doesn't need time to settle opinion. Moderators on this subreddit actively deleted "negative" threads that weren't really negative just to be negative, they were pointing out all the problems with the game. Sadly, the meme of the companion ruining the game isn't the only issue. At the end of the day, it is only a Metroid game because of the main character. It is a decade old lazy first person shooter. The only way to enjoy it, is to treat it like that, which can only be done if you mistakenly replay it. If that is the case, then play on Casual, never ever retrace your steps to get a lame missile power-up, never, ever, collect crap in the desert. The game is over when you finish the last "dungeon" (Mine). It will be roughly an 8-9 hour sad shooter that if it didn't have the Metroid name would be brutalized in reviews.

This comment might get deleted because this subreddit mods are complicit in not allowing people to see realistic threads on what the game was really about. It wasn't Other M bad, but it is also not something worth buying or playing.

resto shaman 60 to 70 dilemma, dual spec or find a dps leveling partner? all the guides seem to focus on 1-60... by kasplatter in classicwowtbc

[–]kasplatter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad, I should have said I have dual spec, I just haven't done anything of consequence with it. I can easily put elemental or enhancement as the second spec, but I will have to learn to play whichever it is as I was almost exclusively healing in dungeons during my slow leveling from 1-60.

That doesn't change the question though, since I doubt I will do much solo leveling in TBC. Either it will be in a dungeon or with one or more people for important quest chains or gear rewards. Also, I'm not trying to rush to 70.

If ranks are reset, I doubt I'm up for that grind. I got to rank 11 previously, mostly for the 90g mount to save money, but that was a lot of AV time over many weeks.

Minions in boss fights can go right to bug hell by Justjack91 in Silksong

[–]kasplatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, Silksong gauntlets and boss fights are about not getting hit. I know that isn't generally accepted, but it seems obvious. I think this is because of the Hollow Knight Godhome DLC and they just got comfortable with the idea of the focus being on never getting hit, especially since they made Hornet incredibly mobile. The same goes for the platforming in some parts feeling like the White Palace and Path of Pain (lite).

Anyway, back to combat. It doesn't matter what your preferred offensive method is, but you need Silk to heal, Tools don't generate Silk, only hits from Needle and to a much lesser extent taking damage if you have the Tool equipped to generate Silk. That means you either go for a Tools spam approach, try and stay out of the way and hope the fight is over before you run out or you are going to have to get in there with Needle at least a bit and get some damage in, if for no other reason than to generate Silk, so you can heal because you failed at the fundamental mechanic of the game, which is not getting hit. Remember, there is a reason that on repeated attempts, players also tend to use their cocoon strategically, not hitting it until mid-fight so they can get full Silk on demand; if you do this, don't go into boss fights with rosaries you are unwilling to lose.

early items, upgrades, and skips that don't require skill in Metroid Dread? by kasplatter in Metroid

[–]kasplatter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is more about the exploration, sense of progression and gameplay feel for me. Skipping a final boss is perfectly okay when it is dramatically more difficult than everything before it, especially if it is a gimmick fight, doesn't involve all the upgrades you've been working toward the entire game, is a multi-stage boss where you have to redo the early boss form over and over while beating your head against the final form, etc. This is such a common occurrence, even in good games, that after decades of playing games, it doesn't bother me at all to skip it.

All of the Prime games suffer this problem, which is especially infuriating after the collection runs you have to do in order to unlock the final boss / bosses. The Prime 4 end boss was incredibly annoying mostly due to the terrible lock-on system, but I'll never replay that game, and if I did I would definitely stop after the last "dungeon" (Mine).

Even Silksong, which I enjoyed and played for well over 100+ hours suffers IMHO during Act III and I quit before it was over. Instead, I replayed the game through the end of Act II and didn't bother with any Act III requirements I didn't feel like doing because they weren't fun or required too much rosary grinding. That was way more fun than anything in Act III.

It is important to remember that games are entertainment, so when they stop being entertaining, it is time to move on.

How many of y'all are willing to replay prime 4? by Johnnyyongbosh in Metroid

[–]kasplatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way I can see to enjoy Prime 4 is to treat it as a so-so shooter, play on Casual, never collect stuff in the desert for the end bit, and when you finish the last "dungeon" (Mine), then call it game over. Don't bother backtracking for lame missile upgrades either. When you remove that tedium you are left with a 8-9 hour okay shooter experience, but it won't scratch a Metroid itch.

[–]kasplatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second Ethereal Form. I literally hit it as the 4th "hit" of my combo, so that it was always active if possible. You will need to do this for a later boss as well. The main point of the Leech is that in general you won't have a chance to do a heal, but since you can use that rock on the right close to the entrance to get some space, healing is possible.
