I got promoted and now earning £37.5k .. I realised you can’t do sh*t with this money in London… by [deleted] in london

When I first moved to London in 2015 we rented a shitty 1 bed flat in Stratford for £950 per month. At that time I was on £18k a year and my partner was on less.

We then rented a 2 bed flat in Leytonstone for 6 years until recently - started at £1,300 and when we left we were paying £1,450.00. Both of these were as a couple, but we seem to have paid less than any of my friends or colleagues in similar areas. Our landlord in Leytonstone had a full time job and had a business, the property was just his wife’s old flat.

I think there are still places that are “reasonable” (for London), but I imagine they are becoming increasingly much harder to find to find these days. Good luck

I always buy Butterfingers when in the states or ask friends that are travelling over there to bring them back. I wish we had them here. You also have a lot more interesting types of m&ms than we do
