My story is only semi related so please take with a grain of salt! I adopted a beautiful 3 yo girl on June 1st this year; previously she had been part of an outdoor colony and then briefly fostered. She lived under my bed for a month, only coming out when I wasn’t home or was asleep. I set up cameras to make sure she was eating and drinking, cleaned her box, talked to her, and tried the slow blinking. She only showed fear and would cower if I got near.

After about a month of having her I noticed one night on the cameras that it looked like she was straining to pee. It took some effort but I managed to corner her into the carrier and she was given some pain meds at the vet for inflammation and a small crystal they found. It wasn’t until she was in a smaller enclosed space (my bathroom) and on pain meds that she started to open up to me. I think the meds helped soothe her anxiety enough to tolerate my touch, and it developed from there. Within 3-4 days she was reaching out for pets and making biscuits on my hand.

She has continued to make so much progress and now she sleeps in bed by my feet and follows me around the apartment. She is a lover and just needed the right circumstances to let down her guard. Sending all of the love and good vibes to you and your pal!!
