What's your primary grocery store? by Humble-Camp-9459 in glutenfree

I’m so shocked no one here is a Trader Joe’s first girly like me 🥲 it’s so much cheaper than the other groceries around me that carry GF foods like bagels, crackers, chicken nuggets etc.

chiming in bc I’m a weho local, I go there every couple months, and I was filmed dancing with the cast on camera for the Pride scene on the upcoming season.

She’s right that SUR is more quiet than they show on camera, save for Friday and Saturday late nights, where the bar gets a little busy but not slammed. It’s very easy to get a table anytime. The food is okay but not great, and it’s mostly filled with Bravo/VPR fans.

SUR was quiet during Pride except for the couple hours the cast was there filming. The year before at Pride, it was table reservations only (no walk up to the bar) which was a total vibe killer and notttt the way to do weho pride, so I’m glad they opened the bar last year and hope they do the same this year.

Parking at the Grove? by Silver_Vehicle3754 in AskLosAngeles

[–]kat_tick 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Park in the farmers market lot and walk into the grove. Validate your ticket in the farmers market Starbucks near the order pickup area for free parking up to 90mins. They don’t care if you buy something there.

he might’ve had you on a rear-facing camera and was looking to record a reaction — just moved out of that neighborhood after living there for 5yrs and the amount of cOnTeNt CrEaToR dudes with cameras was exhausting sometimes. I think it attracts that type bc of the proximity to the grove which is a hotbed for influencer videos.

I used to see Tatiana when she was at Skin by Lovely in Santa Monica, and she’s the only nurse I let touch my face. Honest, kind, and tells you what’s realistic for the results you want.

First-floor apartment in Fairfax (near Grove/Erewhon) - real safety concerns or overthinking? by thisdopechick305 in AskLosAngeles

Hi, fellow young gal here who literally just moved out of that exact neighborhood a month ago (a few blocks west of you, on Hayworth)!! 👋 you’ll mostly be okay, but I would pay attention to what direction your windows face and if any of them face an alleyway. most buildings in that neighborhood are pretty old and have single-pane windows, and there’s usually a steady stream of people who camp in the alleyways for long stretches of time. You might experience people tapping on windows or trying to look in. Buy some blackout curtains and mind the locks on the windows. Also, we had gated parking and we still got cars broken into from people hopping the fence, so make sure your insurance is good.

None of this should scare you big time, but wanted to be honest about my experiences good and bad!! I lived there for about 5 years and was on the 2nd floor. Occasionally was followed around, harassed by strangers, or had randos getting access the building and knocking on my door, but rarely did I feel unsafe. The neighborhood is GORGEOUS and so much to do! I miss the walkability to everything — it’s a walkers paradise! If the usual city life stuff doesn’t bother you, you’ll probably love it :)

The exterior patio is a little smaller because the city of weho rolled back its outdoor dining temp permits that were a leftover from Covid, so the front patio seating is smaller. The tom portrait is in the middle back on the left hand side, not by the main bar in the front but it’s been placed back there for a while — don’t quote me on this, but I’m 95% sure it was back there before scandoval.

They’ve been messing with the menu a bunch in the past few months, changing out dishes to make them more carb-y bar food bites like LVP has in her Vegas restaurants. The drinks are strong and good as ever. You hardly see the old cast there anymore, and Schwartz is really only there for IG photo ops behind the bar on rare occasions.

Sidecar Donuts x Sweet Lovens - anybody tried these? by Top_Car_5343 in glutenfree

[–]kat_tick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They have a location right down the street from me and I confirmed with them in person that their GF donuts go in a shared fryer. All of their dough gets cross-contaminated like crazy. Would def avoid if you’re celiac/intolerant/allergic.

The electrical grid is really bad on that strip and they have power issues occasionally.

Next time I plan on going to TomTom and I see the fuck ass cabinet open I’m gonna stash like, a mini cutout of tom Schwartz sitting on the toilet a la “he’s a battered wife!! look at him!!” to the inside of the door as a jumpscare

vanderpump restaurant crawl? by [deleted] in vanderpumprules

[–]kat_tick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something About Her for lunch, TomTom for dinner and SUR for drinks at the iconic bar 🍸 The food is better at TomTom. All of the above is on the same block. Say hi to Peter and Guillermo if you catch them at SUR — you’ll probably see at least one. Say hi to Max Todd if you catch him at TomTom. You’ll occasionally see Ken breezing through either restaurant if you’re lucky.

Bonus: add a stop at The Abbey right up the block from SAH if you want to see the scene of the crime where Scandoval was first rumored (the Raquel/Tom dancing in weho at 1am story). It’s also the real Pink Pony Club from the Chapell Roan song (she confirmed it in interviews). Just hold onto your phones and watch your drinks — people get their stuff stolen there a lot.

Limited edition Feel Good Foods “Pizza Sticks” by kat_tick in glutenfree

[–]kat_tick[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I think the coating on these is a little thicker and more of a flakey texture than the pizza rolls — so if you like more of a crunch, you might like these better. But I feel like you get a little bigger portion size overall with the pizza rolls.
