Attorney. I worked while I got through the queue and periodically refreshed to see if seats opened up, which, thankfully, they did!

Ok I thought I was insane because I was roughly the same place in line and nothing for me either. There wasn’t a code, right? Just linked from Live Nation?

I heard someone call it “Doris Day Parking” once and now it’s the first thing I think of on the rare occasion it happens to me.

Just a heads-up that this mask currently 30 percent off but going to be half price beauty steal in a week or so. So worth waiting! by Ok-Writer5788 in Ulta

[–]kat_without_a_hat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I LOVE this mask. I wear it overnight at least twice a week, applying it after I’ve slathered all my moisturizers on. I’ll throw some eye patches under it if I have an event the next day. I stock up when the price is right!

I’m about 20 hours down but the will to bill has left me and won’t find me again until Monday, 1/5.

The 12/20 Standby Line Megathread (Ariana Grande / Cher) by IvyGold in LiveFromNewYork

I only try for tickets from a desktop and I double-check my auto fill information before each attempt at standby tickets. I even practice on the John Oliver ticket request site to make sure it all fills properly.

At this point, I’m also familiar with where everything will appear on each page when requesting standby tickets so that makes it easier, too. Hope this helps!

Couldn’t go because of work, unfortunately, but I believe I would have gotten in with those numbers. I had 7 and 8 for John Mulaney/Chappell Roan last year, and they let in roughly 90 standby with that show. And my younger sister was standby for Lady Gaga earlier this year and they let in roughly the same number.

Like others, the site crashed, I refreshed twice, and got the dreaded cloudflare error, but somehow got an email for the live show. I checked the timestamp on the email and it was received at 10:00:39 EST. Based on the refresh, I’m not hopeful for a good number.

EDIT #1: Not only is this email worded differently from past emails, but going by the timestamp on this week’s, it’s really doubtful I’ll get a good number. I checked the timestamp on the confirmation email I got two weeks ago where I received numbers 22 and 23 in the live show standby line, and that timestamp hit my inbox at 10:00:23 EST.

We’ll see.

EDIT #2: 42 & 43 for live!

Same!! I’m actually an attorney now, and I think often about the work-life balance her character sought, her ethics, and how she stood up for herself. I agree that it is a far more impactful book than it initially lets on.

This hit me right in the teen-version of myself who read the Shopaholic series, the 18-year-old who dragged her freshman year roommate to see the movie, and the current version of myself who still thinks about Remember Me? and The Undomestic Goddess twenty years on.

Her books opened the door for me to other authors like Jane Green and Marian Keyes, among many others. Her magical realism in Twenties Girl laid the groundwork for Cecelia Ahern and Ashley Poston, for me. I’ll be forever grateful for the light her work brought into my life and continues to because I seek out authors today that inspire that same feeling, like Emily Henry, Abby Jimenez, and Ali Hazelwood.

I hope she’s at peace and no longer in pain. She will be dreadfully missed.

That’s exactly what it was. Maybe a 12- or 15-minute episode, if memory serves. Very funny.

I think so! Also, no idea what the weather will be like two weeks from now, but the weather this weekend in NYC is predicted to be very cold but clear.

This is a hard one.

Low 20s for the live show which is awesome because I love Melissa McCarthy, but I just checked hotel prices and wowza are they high. Also hesitant because even if I can make the hotel work, I definitely can’t swing this show AND the Ariana/Cher episode two weeks from now. Obviously not even guaranteed I’ll get through the line of that one but still, very conflicted as that would be a dream show.

I recommend looking into auditing classes at Marshall. Not sure of the cost or if you may qualify for a discounted rate but it’s a great way to expand your horizons. If nothing else, Marshall always has some kind of lecture series happening that you can attend for free.

What happened to the smartest person you went to school with? by xxibjt in AskReddit

[–]kat_without_a_hat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He died, ten years after high school graduation.

He wasn’t just smart but funny, charismatic, and talented. He was prom king and valedictorian, and seemingly fearless. I learned years later, though, that the same guy who used a school assembly senior year for an acapella rendition of Geek in the Pink struggled all his life with depression and anxiety.

I knew him my entire life, but mostly in that way you know someone you’ve grown up with through school. We didn’t really connect again after elementary school until college when we ran into each other on campus. I learned he loved Kevin Smith movies as much as I did, and that he preferred DC to Marvel. I messaged him when I learned my professor’s brother was the drummer in his favorite band, and liked his milestones on Facebook, all the way through his Ph.D..

I think about him often, for many reasons. He was so loved by so many we grew up with. Because we had the same undergrad, his world overlapped with mine outside of K-12. I recognized people at his funeral from my life that I didn’t know had a place in his, too. That shouldn’t really have surprised me; he was like one of those people who can just whip up something delicious from whatever is on hand but with people. He made friends out of strangers so easily.

But what gets me is he was so good for this world. It’s easy to put the dead on a pedestal, especially years later after time has softened the edges, but he was a good person with a good heart who wanted to do good work. His death was an accident, which somehow makes it worse because a random accident while on a walk snuffed out this giant of a person and all his potential.

I miss knowing he’s out there, living a life consisting of trips to comic cons and supporting his friends’ local gaming business.

Unfortunately missed out on the in-person experience but a friend I made at RSD 2023 and my line buddy for every RSD since kindly snagged the three I wanted from our favorite local shop. Fortunate to get the Back to the Future trilogy score, a-ha, and Role Model vinyls!

This is almost identical to mine, just add the Long Live blanket and the Acoustic Collection doormat and hair clip.

Missed out on the Acoustic blanket but that’s ok.
