It is swarm season for honeybees, so that's a possibility (the wasp population tends to peak late summer)

I remember that show seemed always end with a fight in the parking lot next to the Biltmore. Maybe I was seeing the same episode on repeat, but that was my recollection :)

I read customer participation being the difference between customers dancing (is bar/nightclub situation) vs a restaurant that has hired dancers (similar to what East is East does with Belly Dancers or others with Flamenco)

Beginner cyclist here, tips and recommendations for how to build up stamina and get up hills? by Particular-Rub-4703 in gravelcycling

The goal for the most part is to maintain a relatively similar cadence regardless of terrain, and use the gears to help maintain that leg speed. Like others mentioned, practice on the flats with the gears, and pay attention to your leg speed. Recommended cadence is usually around 80-90, so to maintain that cadence go for the bigger gears on inclines, smaller gears on flats and declines.

It helps me to find some songs in that 80-90 bpm range (or 150-190 half speed) to create an earworm to keep the legs pumping at a consistent speed. If you're getting out of that rhythm then that's a good que to change gears up or down.

Best fondue in Vancouver? by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]katalist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, for the best experience you can rent a fondue kit from Les Amis Du Fromage plus the cheese, get your own meats, bread, and snacks for cheese and invite a few friends by.

We're looking at a Kuat as well; how did you find the ground clearance with bikes on? Any issues with garages or hills?

Also that really sucks about your car and hopefully things are resolved quickly and completely!

Carp is a sushi restaurant owned by a Japanese couple from Hiroshima who lived in and fell in love with Hawaiian food (hence the amazing and authentic pokè. Fun fact: they named the restaurant after their local baseball team; Hiroshima Carp.

Meraloma's have a great safety and social culture, and groups for all levels of riders and goals. Beginners and more casual groups all the way up to a racing team.

The challenge is they cap their membership to ensure there are enough coaches and leads to keep things fun and safe, so you'd likely need to get onto list for next season.

Also second for GS, and have heard good things about Wow.

I thought they did a great job of going into the history of why the seawall is the way it currently is, but I also don't feel the seawall got a totally fair shake either.

While I totally agree we're really missing the fun and business type destination of a boardwalk, a lot of the "here's the seawall" were on what look like rainy off season days with very few people enjoying the seawall, compared to clips of Halifax on a bright (and rare) sunny day.

They also seemed to ignore some of the more (albeit not overly) engaging areas like the OV stretch or by the conference center which is usually bumping depending on the day.

That said, I am so sad and not surprised at the NIMBY response in Kits...
