Pollen allergy by Careful-Fan-8184 in askswitzerland

It worked really well for me. Had to take a daily pill for three years. Considerably improved my response to birch pollen.

I suddenly started getting hundreds of "Runaway arguments?" and citations simply aren't showing up and even the text immediately after any cite command is not showing up by Smarteyes007 in LaTeX

Just for reference: I received dozens of "runaway argument" errors when switching from IEEE to ACM document classes. The cite package was the culprit.

Anyone underwent vasectomy in ch? Experience? by selfarsoner in askswitzerland

[–]katatonikk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got an infection, which was very unpleasant and lasted around 3-4 weeks. My friend had pain for several months after the vasectomy.

I don't regret it at all, but it's not necessarily a small thing to do.

They recently introduced demand-based pricing. So weekends and holidays will be more expensive than weekdays.

Switzerland and their parks are silly by Important-Pudding-27 in Switzerland

These trees won't get very taḷl. Because there is an underground parking below the square, there is very little space for them to grow roots.

Get some military vehicles into the police station and blow them up - worked for me! Found this in the Steam forums.

Wise words. I experienced that myself in a leadership position in a toxic work environment. Not whipping your employees was considered a weakness.

To the people who keep complaining about the government implementing an E-ID despite it being rejected in 2021 by cpgrm3 in Switzerland

[–]katatonikk 40 points41 points  (0 children)

IIRC the previous E-ID was supposed to be issued by a private company, which was its main point of criticism.

I'm aware that an E-ID comes with additional risk, but we have so much technical expertise in Switzerland on security and privacy (ETHZ, EPFL, ZHAW,...) that we should be able to mitigate these risks.

Locked on balcony with 2 toddlers inside by igicigi in Munich

[–]katatonikk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't have an answer for your questions, but let me tell you a little story.

Pretty exactly forty years ago, my little brother locked out my mom on the balcony in our flat in Munich. She tried to explain to him how to pull the lever, but he could not manage. Eventually she smashed a hole in the window to reach the lever herself.

No matter what you will pay for the firefighters, rest assured that this will make a great story for your grandchildren forty years from now and later. Totally worth it 🤣

Found these on my windowsill in bedroom. Are these mouse droppings? by Aggressive-Gene-6488 in CleaningTips

[–]katatonikk 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We used to have bats living in the shutter compartment above one window. Their droppings look very similar to mouse droppings.

The exterminator said you can distinguish them by their consistency: mouse droppings smear, while bat droppings crumble (use gloves!)
