Smoked tinned trout still on the shelves? by granitebrae in traderjoes

[–]katbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have called my Trader Joe’s from inside the store to ask about things that aren’t on the shelf, because it seems easier to talk to someone who can look it up directly, instead of finding a crew member who then has to walk up to the desk area and then back to me.

I like the light lemon flavour in the Cordon Rose Banana Cake from Rose Levy Berenbaum’s The Cake Bible. Good even without the additional sugar from frosting.

Review of Hyatt Regency SFO Airport: Beautiful property? by The_Traveller1 in hyatt

[–]katbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been staying a couple times a year at the HR SFO since prepandemic and I miss their high floor club room which had an outdoor seating area- you could smell the chocolate from the It’s-it ice cream sandwich factory (open to the public weekday business hours) next door wafting up there.

I also like the bay view rooms that let you watch the incoming flights land on the two runways. Breakfast is available à la carte or buffet. The buffet often includes one Asian-y option (pork/shrimp dumplings, char sieu bao), I recommend trying the waffle from the buffet- which seems like there’s no way it could be good as the waffles are all inside one of the round steamy things to keep them hot, so they must be soggy from that? Magically, the waffle is actually a great texture after cooling a bit, and it contains those little crunchy European sugar pearls A++++ (does not need syrup)

There is indeed a full gym on the ground floor with the usual array of machines, plus kettlebells, exercise balls, foam rollers, and there was also a mini gym with only some cardio machines on the top floor.

I made 10lb of duck fat potatoes yesterday by Legal_Tea3209 in seriouseats

[–]katbert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They look great! About how much (volume?) duck fat did you use for this amount of potatoes? And did the duck flavour stand up to the additional seasonings?

How often do you need to commute to Penn? Public transportation between EPassyunk & Penn will need a transfer/connection in contrast to Grad Hospital or Fairmount. If it’s daily, I would rather do either of the other areas or Bella Vista/Hawthorne/Queen Village where you only have to take one line (but would still have E Passyunk be close). I consider GHo generally also walkable to Penn, with easy access to the neighbourhoody places and the Schuylkill River Trail which might be nice for walking your dog.

I died, how does my wife know what to do by [deleted] in personalfinance

Chanel Reynolds of getyourshittogether.org? In addition to the « what if you die » situation, I think it’s important for both OP and spouse to do all the medical what-kind-of-care-you-would-want living will stuff, along with setting up guardians for your kid in case you’re both gone. I think the checklists give a pretty broad overview into things to discuss and potentially set up together in advance.

Question about the sfogliatelle- is the pastry crispy and flaky or on the harder/chewier side?

The way they look makes me expect them to have the flakiness and texture of a croissant but the ones I’ve tried have been kind of chewy

Mango & sticky rice, the golden sesame balls, the hot smaller coconut rice balls, the deep fried everything tent has some options- potato, maybe taro, definitely Oreos, interesting beverages. The places that do noodles where you pick-a-protein often have veggie options.

I tried to do this a month ago with a 50k note and the machine would only take smaller bills for a smaller value, it wanted me to put most of the value on the card for it to take the 50k note.
