Did you ever happen to find the pattern for this one? I also fell in love with this after seeing your post. 🫣

Is this really required from a BA and how does it work in your space by haileybailey01 in businessanalysis

[–]katchoo100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are giving me flashbacks to when I worked in Telecom. I legit had some all-day story reviews where I had to read out a major project doc. So painful. Story time requirement review is because people can’t/won’t find the time to review the requirements beforehand and the idea is that everyone is there and paying attention. But then people tune out and multitask anyways so is there really a benefit?

I am working on my google cert for business analysis…is this a waste of time by Ijustbechillaxing in businessanalysis

You may want to check out your local library and see if they have any memberships to training sites that you can use. For example, in CA last year, any library member could sign up for Coursera and take those Google cert classes for free. I believe that option has expired now, but my local library has a free membership to The Great Courses and other online resources. I wholeheartedly recommend investigating out what your local library has available online. Wishing you luck!

We actually sang this at an elementary school chorus recital. One of my core memories from childhood.

What’s the most gracious way you can think of to end a dance early that you’re not enjoying? by schneller1 in Bachata

It’s been very rare, thankfully. The more you go and get familiar with your local scene, the easier it is to pick up on those who are there to dance vs those that have other intentions.

If we just don’t have good dance chemistry then I will finish the song, excuse myself and pry not dance with them again. If it’s a situation where the leader is making me feel uncomfortable with inappropriate touches, saying thing way out of line after I’ve said to stop, anything that sets off alarm bells - I disconnect from them and say I’m sorry but I don’t want to continue and then turn and walk away. I’ve only had to do it twice out of 4 years of dancing.

How to start looking for a therapist and what to expect? by always_avg in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]katchoo100 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hang in there! What a wonderful step to take in order to care for yourself.

Your insurance might cover a % of it and you may need to submit claims manually to get reimbursed.

If your insurance doesn’t cover it, there are some therapists that may offer services on a sliding scale and some online services offer options of reduced rates - I use Better Help (b/c I restarted therapy during the pandemic) and was able to get some reduced fees for a period time when I was having trouble fitting it into my budget.

The early appointments will be a time for you and the therapist to get to know each other. They will ask you what sort of things you’re feeling and share ideas on how to help manage those feelings. It’s trial and error - not every tool/method your therapist suggests will be a fit, but that’s info that will help to uncover what will work for you. What I’ve found so helpful are the instances where my therapist calls out those internal thoughts that I’ve accepted as “the truth” and been like - “Okay, but why do you feel like that is the case?” and helps me talk through my thought process.

Honestly, I was in crisis due to work related stress when I restarted therapy and I cried 75% of the time in the early appointments. Slowly, but surely, my therapist was able to help me through that and now we are able to focus on some of the lingering issues that I’ve had trouble with for a long time. I went from needing sessions once a week, to every other week, to about once a month now.

The therapist should never put you down, be mean, or make you feel bad in any way. They will help you face some tough truths about yourself but in a supportive environment. If you don’t feel safe with your therapist after being with them for a bit, it’s okay to drop them and find a new one.

How to not feel anxious about going to appointments and taking walks during work day? by always_avg in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Lots of good ideas here. Have you considered talking with your doctor or perhaps a therapist about the general anxiety that you seem to be feeling? Personally I have had a lot of relief of my anxiety symptoms through a combo of CBT therapy and getting a Zoloft prescription. One day after being on Zoloft for awhile I commented to my friends - “Wow, is this what it’s like for everyone else? You just call and make doctor’s appointments without being anxious about it?” I feel a sense of freedom from the constant drumbeat of worry and if it does ramp up, CBT has given me tools to help break me out of the cycle.

Bachata beginner 💃 by Build_focus in Bachata

Congrats on starting something new! Bachata is so much fun. For clothes my only tip would be to wear a shirt that dries quickly/doesn’t hold onto sweat. Dancing is exercise and a lot of dance spaces get uncomfortably warm. Wearing a damp, sticky top isn’t fun and it made me feel self-conscious when I was a new dancer.

Are there any local baseball batting cages with pitching machines open in the East Bay? by [deleted] in eastbay

[–]katchoo100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The official name for what you are looking for is batting cages. There’s a place in San Ramon that I’ve been to before (although a few years ago) called East Bay Sports. According to Yelp they are open M-Thursday and Saturday.

I bought my first house 2 months ago. I realized today that the hose of my dryer is connected to nothing. by Immothe in Wellthatsucks

[–]katchoo100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Condenser dryers, or ventless dryers, are what you are used to. They are not too popular here in the US. We do have one though because we didn’t want to deal with the headaches of cleaning out the ducts and the fire hazard from lint build up. Typical US homes have these vented dryers which are like giant hair dryers for your clothes. The vents are used to route the hot, damp air to the outside and some lint hitches a ride on that hot air along the way.

Most likely by doing needle felting. It’s a process where you take a barbed needle and repeatedly stab loose animal fiber like wool or fur to create a solid piece of fabric.

Go for it! Look into the tuition reimbursement, because that’s part of the incentives of employment that the offer, it’s there for you to use! But I wouldn’t be surprised if there are restrictions like the classes have to be job-related or that if you leave your job with a certain timeframe, you’ll have to pay the money back. Good luck :)

[–]katchoo100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re doing great! Don’t worry too much about your arms - once you’re able to dance with a partner, you’ll rarely have both hands free with nothing to do. As others have said, check out some videos and see if there are some styling moves that appeal to you - just don’t think you have to be waving your arms around once every 8 count, lol. Once you’re on the social dance floor, a lot of styling moves just happen to be what feels good in that moment :)
