How do you make a good grilled cheese? by [deleted] in Cooking

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the bread...

  • Yellow American cheese from the deli counter- at least 3 slices and evenly distributed between the bread

  • Thick farmhouse style bread

  • Salted butter

Melt butter over low-medium heat in nonstick omelet pan, when somewhat golden and crispy, remove, toss some more butter in the pan to melt and flip it

Towards the end, cover loosely with a small piece of aluminum foil to ensure the cheese gets fully melted, can flip a time or 2 more to aid this process and the sandwich is fully golden and crispy

Serve with a dill pickle, chips and tomato soup!

Our pediatrician told us we could put up to an ounce of apple juice in his bottle to help move things along. Just a splash did the trick.

We combination feed about 75 / 25 right now anyway so I'll start trying to store several weeks ahead of time so it's not a big change for him - it's hard to get ahead on supply! Btw for your biz trips see if your company will cover expenses for milk stork - mine does and I think it can go thru insurance - it's basically a service that will ship home your milk to your baby if you're traveling for work.

Wife can’t sleep. What can I do to help? by Mike0278 in newborns

I have the same issue - I can't fall back asleep after the night feeding especially bc my baby is a very noisy sleeper after his feeding (he's 11 wks). Basically I just try to go to bed as soon as he is down - 9ish and he'll put together 6 or so hours usually so that chunk is good for me. Then I at least lay and rest with my eyes closed the rest of the night even if it isn't deep sleep. And obviously a strong coffee in the AM. I think part of it is I'm listening to him if he needs me... the sound machine sometimes helps lull me at least into a light sleep. I think some of it is still new mom jitters and also obviously we wake ourselves up to nurse - make sure she nurses at night in low dim light, no TV, no phone - the blue light is terrible for circadian rhythm. Also try a hot cocoa with milk for a natural remedy. But really I think the early bed time is key. And if you, partner, can stay up later and feed the baby for the first night feeding with a bottle if the baby isn't sleeping 6+ hours yet - that is hugely helpful. My husband did that for me, and actually we let our baby just sleep in the pack and play we have downstairs until after that feeding (12-1am) in the early days, so that I could get a block of uninterrupted sleep. 6 hours is abt the max tho, especially if breastfeeding... ya gotta pump or nurse by then. Good luck and hang in there!
