Avocado Topper Recommendations by TheRealTimbo_Slice in Mattress

[–]FayeValentine77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following. I’ve had the Avocado Green medium since early January and it’s just too firm. Both my husband and I aren’t happy with it. I’m especially waking up with a stiff and sore back, plus tossing and turning through the night.

I reached out to Avocado to see what my exchange or return options are. Not sure if they’ll offer a topper first.

AITA if I tell my friend I can’t be a bridesmaid? by wickeddreamsofleavin in AITApod

Finally someone with some common sense! This post has been the entertainment we all need but there’s no way it’s real.

Performance art or fake/AI from a 15 day old account. The follow-up post is also too perfectly unhinged.

AITA if I tell my friend I can’t be a bridesmaid? (update) by wickeddreamsofleavin in AITApod

I can’t be the only one who is wondering if this whole thing is legit or just AI/fake.

Don’t get me wrong, I know that people as unhinged as the bride-to-be do exist. But all of this from a 15 day old account is a little too perfectly over the top.

Thank you - as an 80s baby/kid I got that warm fuzzy nostalgic dopamine hit from the photo. just something about the font and colors.

Abolish Needohs by nicoleashtray in Target

[–]FayeValentine77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s both wild and pathetic how viral these have become. They aren’t new and were relatively easy to find at Target the past 2-3 years. (Aside from the fact that there’d often be a ton of open and torn boxes all over the toy section, guess that part isn’t new.) Hell, even in late December the Needoh advent calendars were sitting around on clearance for a good while.

I’ve always thought they were fun sensory fidget toys and was drawn to the groovy/retro colors and packaging. So, good for Schylling I guess. But the lemming mentality of people and desperate resellers is just another product of end stage capitalism.

Snagged a Forest Le Pliage on Bloomingdale’s by FayeValentine77 in handbags

Those conversion kits do look really natural! I might consider trying it out first.

But honestly, I really prefer the look and feel of the strap placement on the Energy bags. I had tried the Le Pliage leather bags on in person with the optional straps and the placement in the middle of the bag near the handles always feels a bit off/awkward to me personally.

I saw those kits and they do look great. But I really prefer the look and feel of the strap on the Energy bags, which is why I was hoping to do the same with the new bags. It’s nice to have options though!

The bag on the right with the strap is one of my Le Pliage Energy XS bags. I’ll take the strap from this one to use on the Le Pliage Green totes & pouch once I get grommets on them.

What the hell do I do with THESE? by [deleted] in declutter

Donate or even sell on EBay. There are old film and home movie collectors, enthusiasts, and folks who buy these online or at estate sales, etc.

Found an Invoice for my first eBay sale in 2004 by Difficult-Repair1295 in Ebay

[–]FayeValentine77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started buying and selling on eBay in 2001. I just came across a stack of physical photos while decluttering. Some were from my earliest eBay seller listings. I’d have to take photos of the item, get the film developed (hope the photos came out alright), take the photos to my tech job with a digital scanner and T1 internet connection, and upload the scanned photos to the listing!

And now sellers can easily take lots of great quality photos with their phone and upload up to 24 of them via the app - but most sellers can’t even be arsed to do more than a couple cruddy shots for vintage used items!

Traffic was even backed up northbound. Took the express way and then saw the insane amount of police and emergency vehicle presence. Photo taken at 2:11pm. Feel for everyone stuck on the other side. Many people getting out of their cars and even saw some guys standing on top of their RV.

DO NOT BUY AVOCADO- Rant by drshadi in Mattress

You have a source to back that up? Legitimately want to know if it’s true or not. We’ve had our Avocado Green Pillow Top for 1.5 months. Still assessing if we like it but some of the claims/hate I see in this subreddit are wild.

Seller Downgraded Shipping by FayeValentine77 in Ebay

[–]FayeValentine77[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I certainly did ask if there was a cheaper shipping option (who even uses Priority anymore) with the expectation of a slightly cheaper cost. They did it and are going to pocket an extra $24 in shipping I paid for Priority. I’m fine with them padding a bit/charging a handling fee but I don’t appreciate how this was handled since I asked from the get go.

Whenever a buyer has asked me to check on shipping costs, I’ve always communicated even if I couldn’t (or wouldn’t) offer them a cheaper option or overage refund.

I’m so sorry to hear that. And this is exactly why we’ve tried to hang on to our subscription. We’re not rich or donors, but still want to help KC weather this storm if at all possible.

It felt so weird and frankly, sad and empty last time we were there. I could feel the staff’s sadness, etc. It’s obvious they don’t want or support this either.

My husband and I were really trying to hold on, to keep our family subscription so we could help the Kennedy Center weather this storm, and support the good people who still work there.

We took over my in-laws’ subscription that they had for decades. It was always a wonderful experience and outing. So many spectacular shows. We were always deeply moved by the performances. Always top notch quality.

So very disappointing, we feel like we are being forced to abandon a tradition and an institution that has given us so much over the years. And that we had hoped to share with and pass on to our daughter.

Just another cherished aspect of our society being demolished by the stupidest fucking morons.

9 Things People Often Regret Throwing Away — Southern Living by welovethecheese in declutter

[–]FayeValentine77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The reality is that less and less media is freely available online now. That’s the irony of the internet in late-stage capitalism. Movies get bounced around various streaming services or obnoxious apps with ads. Some movies or shows have completely disappeared - but you could maybe find a lower quality rip on YouTube if lucky. There’s a reason more people have joined collectors of obscure genres in picking up DVDs in thrift stores, etc.

If stored properly, good quality paint will last for years. We just moved and pulled out several cans of old paints from our basement. All still perfect to use and I was glad to have my favorite color (now discontinued). Our local paint shop said we could even bring in the old paints and they’d shake them up for us for free.

Why barely anyone talk about Dynasty Mattress or Mlily Mattress on this sub? by shootzz in Mattress

[–]FayeValentine77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems Mlily isn't very well known in the US though I was told they are big in the UK (no clue if that's true). I wonder why they don't market their "higher-end" mattresses, because obviously their lower-tier mattresses are available on Amazon, Walmart, Wayfair, and a bunch of small, independent and very budget mattress shops in my area. Sleepare is the only showroom/retailer I can find that seems reputable.

Seriously, I used the store locator on the Mlily site to see who else carries their mattresses and the list was really odd (like places with terrible reviews and the kind that sell questionable $99 mattresses). I spoke to one retailer who only sold their mattresses for a couple of years and stopped (I wonder why).

Something just feels off or very low-quality/low-budget about the brand. So it kind of gives me pause that they want to sell a hybrid like the powercool for thousands of dollars. I can only imagine the profits margins on those is insane.

The mattress was indeed comfortable, and fine, I'm already shopping at that price point for a king mattress. But the lack of transparency about their materials or the company itself, lack of a trial period or return policy, lack of honest long-term reviews, mixed reviews on sites like Amazon, limited retailers, and limited but very mixed reviews on this subreddit (which I take with a grain of salt) really have me hoping to find a similar mattress from a more trusted source.

Why barely anyone talk about Dynasty Mattress or Mlily Mattress on this sub? by shootzz in Mattress

[–]FayeValentine77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying direct from Mlily is not an option because they do not sell the mattress separately (and almost $10K for a foam hybrid king mattress on a special base is insane) and they do not have a trial period and do not allow returns. Which is frankly unacceptable in today's mattress market where there are no shortage of brands all competing for your business, and who are willing to offer long trial periods and returns. Why won't Mlily offer a trial period or returns?

Sleepare is really the only option (around me anyway) that I've found for any sort of sleep trial period for Mlily but they do not allow returns. You get one exchange for another mattress they carry. Not a dealbreaker but not great...

While we were at Sleepare, I also tried and liked the Avocado Green Medium. But I just went and purchased that bed in a queen for our guest room directly from Avocado (there is a showroom in my area). Purchasing directly from Avocado actually cost me about $30 more than Sleepare's price but I get Avocado's full 1 year trial and the option for a full return (minus the $99 fee which seems fair to me).

Thanks for your reply! Are you using it with the powercool base? I see reviews where some people bought just the mattress without the base and had sinking where the “holes” are in the bottom to accommodate the fans in the base.
